'Tensnake welcomes Glasgow & Reykjavik based producer ILO who adds to a classy back catalogue peppered with the deeper shades of Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Jazz, Funk and Electronica. 'Waking Up' is a chic record that showcases ILO's knack for sound design, mood-control and the subtle development of tension. 'Waking Up' kicks things off with a masterful slice of Deep House that rolls out an elastic and cool-headed groove. At the track's heart, buttery chords are spread in deliciously thick layers while ethereal vocals glide overhead. A ripe kick and another snarling bass line provide a contrasting grit, having the track kicking in all the right places. Drums eventually grab the lime light at the conclusion of an atypical DJ tool: one that stands out in its ability to build energy and marshal a trip from A to B.
