"Watch and Pray for His Coming" Advent Midweek 2 2021

from Preaching and Teaching from St. John Ev. Lutheran Church (Sherman Center), Random Lake, Wisconsin · host Rev. Christopher Gillespie

As Jesus says, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Even in the midst of the dire warnings, the threatening judgment, and the vigilance of watching and praying, Jesus promises the Gospel of Jesus Christ crucified for our forgiveness and raised for our justification will go out before the day comes. And the new day of his full presence is coming, however, and then it will be sight. So in the midst of our confident faith in his promise, we look for the joy of his return and full presence among us and in the world that belongs to him. Because Jesus has loved us, we love him, and we long for him to return. It is as simple as that.
