We long for a good relationship with God and for everlasting life. The problem is not with the thirst, but where we often go to satisfy that thirst. We often go to the things of the world to find satisfaction, which is a strategy doomed for failure because our sights are set far too low – solutions for our worldly problems. We come to the right place when we realize that our thirst is satisfied only by the one who has come to give living water that wells up to eternal life. But God’s promise is just as universal. “All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Clearly God’s gift of salvation is for all people! But that does not mean all will be saved.
