We Love Hakka (Culture: 客家收冬戲 peace operas)

Farmers in Hakka villages have traditionally prayed for a good harvest every spring. As a form of gratitude, the farmers prepare tributes to the gods after harvesting the crops in autumn, even including an opera troupe performance, known as end-of-winter operas, or peace operas. Today, the peace operas are presented and passed-down in a way that is more relevant to modern Taiwanese society. 在年底收成時，客家人為了感謝上蒼諸神明庇佑，庄民則敬備牲禮供品來祭祀神明，舉行還福祭典，稱為「還天神」；為求隆重，村庄內還會請戲班演戲酬神，稱做「收冬戲」；而在傳統客庄，一年一度的「收冬戲」是地方上的大事，庄民也會邀宴遠近親友來「食福」，藉以聯誼共慶豐年。 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
