Do you find yourself doing things for those that claim that you are more suitable for the task than they are? Or perhaps you find yourself passing off jobs to others because “they can do it better than you”? A common manipulation is to claim incompetence within relationships to achieve the relinquishing of responsibility. John discusses this and details the methods and effect this situation can have on relationships.    KEY TAKEAWAYS There are two types of incompetence, the first being weaponized incompetance and the second, malicious incompetance.  Weaponized incompetence is pretending to be incompetent as an excuse or a “get out”. You may see examples of this when your partner doesn’t want to complete a chore and does a bad job so they don’t get asked again.  Malicious incompetence is when it is used to deliberately irritate, manipulate and  manoeuvre the other party.  An imbalance in shared tasks can cause long term resentment so it is best to discuss the behaviour to try to resolve the situation.    BEST MOMENTS ‘A good example of someone feigning incompetence recently is Boris Johnson and the whole party gate debacle. So for Boris to suggest that he was unaware as to whether he was breaking the law or not, to most seemed like a very flimsy excuse, but to others it could appear to be a legitimate reason why he attended several parties during the pandemic lockdown.’ ‘It’s a passive aggressive way of getting someone to do something you really just don’t want to do.’ ‘A child may also have witnessed this in their parents' relationship. Seeing that one will shirk responsibility and get away with it.’ ‘If you think that you may have high expectations and so this is something you perceive  to be happening rather than a real problem, then speak to a non judgemental honest friend, colleague or someone you trust, as you may be placing too much pressure on someone to be as you need them to be.’   VALUABLE RESOURCES If people want to order a copy of the book then they can just pay postage of £4.95 (RRP £8.99) - www.johnkennycoaching.com/podcast-book-offer Want to be able to address the relationship issues in your life? - Why not book in for a complimentary call and we can discuss how you can get the new started with some new types of relationships - https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30min The Relationship Guy Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/the-relationship-guy           ABOUT THE HOS I am John Kenny, The Relationship Guy - Coaching people to experience healthy loving relationships.  Having spent a life choosing unhealthy relationships and self sabotaging my own success, I now coach people to live a life they choose.   CONTACT METHOD Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/johnkennycoaching

Brother Blaq1-" The Relationship Guy" Rob Gregg My podcast is about relationships and family. My goal is to help people make the right choice in mate selection. The only way we can grow as people is to look at our own lives and confront the truth. The saying is true, " the truth can set you free!! When we are totally free from the past, then and only then can we attract the right "purpose mate". Together with Nikhil Chinapa Nikhil Chinapa Together is a way of celebrating the relationship between you guys, the community that makes this show so special, and us, the team that puts the show together. Together, we/'re going to do amazing things. The FootPol Podcast Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton The podcast that brings together football and politics. We'll be exploring the relationship between the two, both inside and outside the game. The podcast covers "Big Politics" like politicians, clubs, international and national federations and other organised groups and how they use or abuse the game to "Small, Everyday Politics" in the form of community-level clubs, fan associations and the way that football reflects the political challenges of our day to day lives. The FootPol Podcast is brought to you by co-hosts Drs Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton. The Billy Madison Show Cristine Billy holds a Master’s Degree in Business from American International University and attended Mankato State in Minnesota, but don’t hold that against him. He is a collector of Star Wars memorabilia, autographs (seriously), and a self-admitted ”dork” (but in a cool way of course). Derek is Billy’s ”right hand man” and offers his opinion on many topics but he will honestly admit he’s ”not a political expert or expert on a lot of things” and ”never went to college” but neither did Bill Gates (ok Gates went, but dropped out) but so what? ”Nard” (also known as Nathan) is a former listener of the show that was given a job after Billy helped him find a girlfriend. The relationship with the girl didn’t last but Billy and the guys liked Nard’s ”wit” and offered him a chance to be on the show one day and he never left. Nard has won over 50 Gold Medals in The Special Olympics and supports causes that help place special needs individuals in appropriate jobs and careers, just as he has done.
