Weather warning upgraded in Sligo and Leitrim

A Status Orange - Low Temperature/Ice warning has been issued for both Sligo and Leitrim. The warning also applies to the remainder of Connacht and a host of other counties. Met Éireann is warning of extremely cold temperatures with widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow. Dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays and animal welfare issues are all expected. The warning comes into play at 8pm this evening and will remain in place until 10am on Wednesday morning. Forecaster with Met Éireann, Rebecca Cantwell says the cold weather will last until the end of the week at least.
