Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the West Virginia Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. Winter just woke up angry. Snow, wind. And temperatures that'll make you regret leaving the house. Let's get into it. Central West Virginia starts with rain and snow mixing around 7 A.M., then clears to mostly cloudy by noon. You'll hit 37 degrees, but don't get comfortable. Northwest winds blow at 6 to 12 miles an hour. Tonight, light snow returns, dropping you to 25 degrees by midnight. By 3 A.M., wind chills hit 15 degrees — that's the kind of cold that sneaks through your coat. Now drive up to the Northern Panhandle. Snow sticks around all day, peaking at 87 percent chance around 4 A.M. Monday. Highs barely scrape 37 degrees. And winds gust to 21 miles an hour tonight. By 5 A.M., it feels like 19 degrees, even though you're at 28. Monday brings more snow — 1 to 3 inches piling up. Southern West Virginia gets the worst of it. Snow likely this morning, 1 to 2 inches on the ground. Highs struggle to 32 degrees. And winds howl at 7 to 15 miles an hour, gusting to 28. Tonight, snow continues, lows crash to 19 degrees. By 6 A.M., wind chills hit 15 degrees — dangerously cold. Monday stays wintry, more snow, highs in the mid-20s. Winter Storm Warnings are up statewide. Black ice is a real threat tonight. If you're driving, slow down and give yourself extra time. Here's the good news. Tuesday starts a warmup — highs climb into the 40s and 50s by midweek. Rain moves in Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday hits 50 degrees. Saturday could touch 64 degrees in some spots. That's a 40-degree swing from today. Quick favor — if this helped you plan your day, share it with someone who could use a heads-up. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
