West Virginia Weather 3/8 Morning - Rain Starting 6 AM
from The West Virginia Weather Podcast
Good morning. West Virginia. I'm Michael Nally. That overnight rain left us about a sixth of an inch before clearing out. The cold front's already swept through. And now we're watching clouds break apart west to east through the afternoon. Here's how it plays out statewide. Southern West Virginia wraps up the wettest conditions around mid-afternoon, topping out near 61 degrees. Central areas see lighter showers through late morning, then partly sunny skies push in with highs reaching 67 degrees. Up in the Northern Panhandle? Just a brief sprinkle around 7 A.M., then you clear out fast with a high near 62 degrees. Tonight, mostly clear statewide. Lows drop to the mid-40s. Perfect sleeping weather with a light southwest breeze. Monday brings wall-to-wall sunshine and the start of a serious warm-up. Highs climb into the upper 60s to low 70s across the board. Tuesday pushes even warmer — we're talking near-record territory. Highs reach the mid to upper 70s statewide. Mostly sunny skies, though a few showers could pop up by afternoon. This is March warmth that feels more like May. Then Wednesday. That's when things get interesting. We could approach 80 degrees, but a potent storm system barrels in by afternoon. Rain likely, thunderstorms possible — and meteorologists are already watching for severe weather potential. Strong winds, heavy rain, maybe even a tornado risk. This system has teeth. Behind that front, temperatures crash Wednesday night. Rain changes to snow in the mountains above 2,500 feet. Thursday morning could bring a flash freeze on wet roads, especially in higher elevations. Enjoy the quiet today. The real show starts midweek. See you this afternoon.
