What Are You Laboring For?

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Monday September 7, Labor Day - This is a day set aside as a  federal holiday in the United States to "honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States." Solomon, who was considered the wisest man of his day, in the book of Ecclesiastes, writes about looking at life from man's perspective apart from God.  He concludes that no matter what man achieves, accomplishes or accumulates, in the end he is still empty in his soul.  Read Ecclesiastes 6:1-7 where he concludes, "All the labor of man is for his mouth, And yet the soul is not satisfied.'  The Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 127:1 "Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build, labor in vain." Today, what are you working for?  The Apostle Paul encourages us in 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." May the Lord help us today to live for the eternal and not just for the temporal. God bless!
