I want to talk in todays Podcast about whats Motivating you. It has been said that motivation may be rooted in the basic need to minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure In a nutshell - we as humans will avoid pain and seek out pleasure at all costs. It’s only when we believe that the pain we must face will ultimately lead us to pleasure - that we do something that causes us pain to begin with. In other words - to work out, to make that next cold call, to knock on that next door, to face our fear to walk across the room and ask her or him for their phone number - we MUST believe that the initial discomfort we are about to feel — will ultimately lead us to pleasure or we will not do it. Jeremy Bentham, who lived back in the early 1800 made this statement: “Nature has placed mankind under the government of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure - they govern us in all we do, in all we say, in all we think….” Friend - what’s motivating you to make the decisions your making today? Is it pain? is it pleasure? Listen to this Podcast to find out more!
