On Tuesday we’re expecting that the judges of the highest court in the land will rule on whether Boris Johnson’s decision to shut down parliament ahead of next month’s Brexit deadline was legal or not. Today we’re asking more about the remit of the Supreme Court: why cases about access to toilets make the cut, who is in charge, and how Supreme Court justice Lady Hale came to be nicknamed the ‘Beyoncé of the judiciary’.
