Proud to be an American. How many times have you said this in your life? If you are from America, I'm sure you have said or thought similar. If you are not from America, it is the same for where you are. Where is your allegiance? Is your allegiance to your country about that of the allegiance you give to God? We are called to live in community and God has asked his people many times to make life where they are. The Bible also talks about how we are to obey those who are in authority over us, as long as it doesn't go against the Will or Word of God, and we are to do it with glad hearts! This however does not tell us to think of our countries above that of God. Anything we put above God becomes like an idol. Our allegiance is first to God then to anything else! Christina and Melissia talk about the Pledge of Allegiance and discuss if it is ok to do. The conversation moved to separation of church and state and what that means for us as Christians. Being a Christian doesn't mean you can't share God with others because of where you are. We are called to do so! Follow God's path and he will show you His Will!

‭‭Romans‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭7‬ ‭CSB‬‬
“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath but also because of your conscience. And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks. Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.”

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.”
