Why Did I Get PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)?
from Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Podcast · host Dr. Eric Berg
In this podcast, I want to cover what PCOS is and what can cause PCOS. Symptoms of PCOS: • Infrequent or prolonged menstrual cycle • Excess male hormones (androgens) • Infertility • Excess hair growth on the body • Thinning hair on the head • Acne • Insulin resistance Most websites will tell you that the potential causes of PCOS are genetic or maybe environmental. But, I think the missing piece that you need to know is that high androgens can be caused by high insulin. And high androgens may cause many of the symptoms of PCOS. Unfortunately, insulin levels are rarely checked. You can’t really determine what’s going on with insulin by checking your blood sugar levels. You could actually have normal blood sugars and still have high levels of insulin. If you’re not sure what causes high insulin, I have a lot of other videos on that topic. Watch those videos and start the Healthy Keto Diet and intermittent fasting.
