Today we're going to talk about LDL and keto. I'm going to explain why your LDL or total cholesterol would go up when's starting the keto diet.  For most people, when starting the ketogenic diet, their LDL will go down and not up. If it does go up, it's not as common, but I don't believe it's a problem.  LDL is not cholesterol. It's low-density lipoprotein. LDL acts like a carrier boat that travels the cholesterol through the blood. LDL is not bad. LDL takes the cholesterol from the liver and puts it into the tissues. HDL takes the cholesterol from the tissues and puts it into the liver.  The body needs cholesterol for hormones and cellular membranes. Your body makes a lot of cholesterol, and you also get cholesterol from the diet.
