Why Vowels Are So Hard With Spasmodic Dysphonia
from Spasmodic Dysphonia & Muscle Tension Dysphonia Exercises
This is the first condensed archive episode — an older Spasmodic Dysphonia exercise session cut down into a shorter vowel-focused drill. In this episode, I work through warmups, “me / nim” drills, counting exercises, sustained vowel sounds, breath control, and the A, E, Ah, O, and U sounds. This was also a rough voice day. You can hear the spasms, rasp, frustration, and moments where my voice fights back. But that is part of the reason I wanted to share it. Spasmodic Dysphonia is not always clean progress.I still have Spasmodic Dysphonia myself. I’m not a doctor, speech therapist, or vocal coach. I’m sharing exercises I’ve found over the years and documenting what has helped me in real time.Go light. Don’t force it. The goal is not louder — the goal is easier, more connected sound.
