Wind Chills Below Zero | North Dakota Weather

from The North Dakota Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the North Dakota Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. Step outside right now and 2 degrees will punch you straight in the face. That's the overnight low still hanging around.. The kind of cold where your nose hairs freeze mid-breath. But buckle up, because North Dakota's about to do what it does best — a temperature swing so dramatic you'll need a wardrobe change by lunch. Eastern North Dakota starts at 1 degrees around 6 A.M. By afternoon? You're at 19. Central areas get the wildest ride. You're sitting at 10 degrees around 5 A.M., then rocketing to 34 by 4 P.M. That's a 24 degrees climb in less than twelve hours. Up north, you're rising from 3 degrees around 5 A.M. To 28 by 4 P.M. Wind chills this morning are vicious. Feels like minus 9 in the east around 6 A.M. Central North Dakota hits 2 degrees around 8 A.M. Northern areas bottom out at minus 6 around 7 A.M. That's frostbite territory if you're not covered up. Tonight stays surprisingly mild. Lows settle between 15 and 21 degrees statewide. South winds keep pushing that warmer air in overnight. Thursday's your reward for surviving this morning. Sunshine and 40 in the east, 46 in central areas, 43 up north. Perfect day to remember what warmth feels like. The rest of the week tells a story. Thursday stays beautiful. Friday keeps the mild temps but winds crank up to 38 miles an hour before cold air crashes back in Friday night. Saturday turns brutal again.. Single digits up north, upper teens down south. Sunday starts a slow climb back to sanity, with highs pushing into the 30s and 40s by Monday and Tuesday. If this rollercoaster forecast helps you plan your week, share it with someone. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
