Winter Storm Watch | Ohio Weather 6 AM

Good morning, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Ohio Weather Podcast. It's Monday, February 23rd. And your commute this morning.. Is a mess. That dusting of snow overnight? It's blowing sideways right now. Northwest winds are turning every bridge and overpass into a slip and slide. So grab that coffee, take a breath. And let me walk you through this. Northeast Ohio is taking the biggest hit. Snow's been falling since last night and won't quit until 9 PM tonight. Cleveland, Akron, Geauga County.. You're looking at 4 to 6 inches total. Winds are howling at 16 to 23 miles an hour, gusting to 33. Visibility is garbage. Winter Weather Advisories run through 1 AM Tuesday. Temperatures started at 30 degrees around 7 AM but they're sliding to 19 tonight. Wind chills drop to single digits. Now slide down to Central Ohio. Columbus, you got your snow burst between 5 AM and 10 AM. Less than an inch on the ground. But gusts hitting 29 miles an hour turn even a dusting into a whiteout. Highs struggle to reach 33 degrees around 3 PM. That's seven degrees below normal. Tonight dips to 19, feeling like 14. Southwest Ohio, you lucked out. Cincinnati and Dayton maybe caught a flurry around 5 AM. Otherwise just cloudy and breezy. Highs near 35 degrees. Lows tonight around 20. Looking ahead, Tuesday brings a brief exhale. Highs climb into the upper 30s north, low 40s south. Then Wednesday gets interesting. A warm surge pushes Cincinnati past 50 degrees.. But rain and snow crash the party Wednesday night. Thursday's the wild card. A low pressure system could drop 1 to 2 inches statewide, or miss us entirely. I'll be tracking that one closely. The payoff? Weekend sunshine with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. Cincinnati could touch 61 degrees Saturday. We're gaining two minutes and thirty three seconds of daylight today. Spring is inching closer.
