Winter Weather Advisory | North Dakota Weather
from The North Dakota Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the North Dakota Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th. Step outside right now and that 20 degrees comes with a bite. The real story? A cold front sweeping across the state this morning, bringing freezing rain, blowing snow. And winds strong enough to make your steering wheel fight back. Winter Weather Advisories are up for much of eastern North Dakota. If you're heading out early, take it slow. Eastern North Dakota gets the messiest morning. Around 5 A.M., there's a slight chance of freezing rain — just enough to turn roads into skating rinks. By 7 A.M., winds shift west-northwest and gusts hit 31 miles an hour by noon, whipping up patchy blowing snow through 1 P.M. Temperatures crash hard. You start near 32 degrees around 9 A.M., then plummet to 5 degrees by 5 A.M. Tomorrow. Tonight at 2 A.M.? It'll feel like minus 6 degrees, even though the actual temp is 8. Wind chill is the villain here. Central North Dakota stays dry but windy — northwest winds at 14 to 20 miles an hour, gusts to 29. Highs hit 33 degrees early, then drop to 8 degrees by tomorrow morning. Thursday brings the plot twist — 45 degrees and sunny. That's a 30-degree swing in 48 hours. Northern North Dakota? Winter digs in its heels. Winds gust to 23 miles an hour all day. Highs struggle to reach 18 degrees, then drop to zero by 3 A.M. Tomorrow. It'll feel like minus 7 by 10 P.M. Tonight. But Thursday? Temperatures rocket to 42 degrees. Not a typo. Your week ahead: Wednesday brings light snow, especially north. Thursday and Friday warm into the upper 30s to low 40s — almost spring-like. Then Friday night, a cold front crashes the party. Temps drop back to single digits by Saturday with another chance for snow. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
