She is the author of the 2014 novel, FLYING SHOES, and she has written for the Oxford American and Garden & Gun. Howorth taught art history at the University of Mississippi, receiving the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1996, and a MacDowell Fellowship in 2007.
