The Jews falsely assumed that they were going to heaven because they were Abraham's children. Jesus showed that their desire to kill him and their rejection of his Word actually demonstrated that they were not spiritually Abraham's children, nor were they God's children, but children of the devil. If God is our Father we will love Jesus and his Word.
