In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Chanie Twersky. My name is Chanie. I grew up in a religious community, and when I turned 18, I was arranged to marry into a family of leadership in my community. At my wedding, which was aired on TV, 7000 participants from all over the world attended However, it soon became clear that the marriage would not work out, and I lacked the support to leave right away. It took me years to come to terms with my situation and make the bold decision of leaving the marriage with my 8 children. The journey out was another 13 years of delicate battles to overcome. As a mother and now grandmother of 13, I did not rush the process, but I also did not stop until I was out and free. I left the lifestyle behind, but the war cost me important relationships in my life. However, I have faith that those who seek truth and love will find their way back to me. I have not stopped loving those important to me, and I believe that love wins after all. Now, I help future parents do their share of inner work, so that we as a human family stop hurting one another due to childhood trauma. Children deserve to be born into healthy family cultures, and it takes a community to help create a shift in future generations.
