Alabama Pilgrimage Reflections by Dr. Deborah Boston: When Christ Enters the Equation
This episode is part of my Alabama Pilgrimage series, where I interview friends who traveled with me through the important sites of the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Boston is an educator with a doctorate in leadership studies and adult education. She's now semi-retired, but is an active member of many civic and community organizations, including the Mt. Level Community Partnership for Racial Justice.Dr. Boston is actually one of the founding members of the Mt. Level Community Partnership and the Alabama Pilgrimage. From its inception, she, along with Rev. Linda Van Hook have been imagining what it would look like to pursue a model for beloved community in her home city. She shares about growing up in Winston Salem and comparing the treatment she received in schools where she was loved and cared for vs. tolerated and neglected. As a life long learner, she wanted to keep growing and learning and finds doing that in community very rewarding. The 2024 pilgrimage was her second time attending, and she shares what was different from this time. In addition to sharing her experiences of the pilgrimage, she also offers information about how Durham locals can get involved with the partnership. Here is a link to their website if you want to keep up with current and upcoming opportunities. Stranger Things Finale + Wrap Up
Do you believe? Believe it or not, it's the end of an Era. The Stranger Things Era. For almost a decade now, we have been enraptured by this TV show. While mileage may vary, there's not a person on this Upside Down planet who hasn't been impacted by this show to some level. To commemorate the occasion, I'm joined by three guests. Together we make a Core 4, who discuss the finale and then celebrate the show as a whole. Put on your electrode caps, toast an Eggo, and join Harrison, Raul, Vera and I for an epic podcast. We cover our top moments from the finale, top critiques, top characters, top quotes, and top needle drops. We then take a step back and name our top ten moments from the show as a whole, plus name our crowdsourced top ten from listeners. Stranger Things Season 5, Vol. 2
Harrison Martin aka Flixfrog returns for a discussion on Stranger Things season 5, part 2. While our opinions differ on if this part was better than part 1, we both had things we liked about this newest selection of episodes. We approach the finale with hope and a prayer that this beloved show will end things on a high note. We break down the character arcs, the un-proposal from Jonathan and Nance, the make up between Steve and Dustin, the coming out scene with Will, and the satisfaction of seeing Max wake up. There's much more, but we do take a pit stop to discuss our favorite snacks and end with our outstanding character awards. All this, and more awaits those who enter. Mellon!

Welcome to Derry, Episode 8: Winter Fire
It's the final episode of Welcome to Derry, Winter Fire. We finally see how 1962 resolves and witness the foretold "final twist" that reveals why the Muschiettis are releasing the three seasons in backwards order. Would you believe it's time travel? But before we get to the time travel plot, there are character arcs to resolve. Who lives? Who dies? Who tells the story? Not everyone gets character justice, but Steve and I do our past to articulate the truth about the big finale. Although the Muschiettis have promised two more seasons, we have yet to hear an official announcement. But hopefully soon. In any case, thank you for joining Steve and I on another recap series.

Welcome to Derry, Episode 7: The Black Spot
It's the penultimate episode of season 1, The Black Spot. It's the episode everyone has been waiting to happen -- the supposed big hurrah. Only it turns out, there's a second hurrah coming that could be even more important to this show's lore. We talk about that decision and why it doesn't quite compute (for Lindsey at least). Now, don't get me wrong. The Black Spot incident was delivered with terror and intrigue. The event was perpetrated by societal racism that will linger through in the Derry water for eternity. However, then introducing a plot twist that leads to a threat of It being unleashed outside the borders of Derry undermines the terror of the Black Spot and could make it seem less than. And plus, hasn't it been hinted at that the entity's power used to be stronger in the past? We will see how this all resolves next week.

Stranger Things Season 5, Vol. 1
Ready for a crawl? Or a piece of special pie? Harrison Martin, otherwise known as Flixfrog, came back to 1 of my Stories to help me make sense of the final season of STRANGER THINGS. Netflix gonna Netflix, so, of course, they had to release the season in three parts, outdoing their previous two-part release. Fair enough. Both of us had waned in our enthusiasm for the show and weren't sure what to expect. But we loved re-entering the world and discovering the big reveal of part 1. Life in Hawkins has taken a turn. The whole town is under quarantine and part of the city is closed up in a military occupied zone called MAC-Z. The Byers family is shacking up with the Wheelers for an undisclosed reason. Robin and Steve have new jobs at the SQOWK radio station, and whole gang uses the station as a rally point and operation center for their secret mission to find Vecna in the Upside Down. Murray plays Santa Clause and keeps the group equipped and operational for their special projects. The whole crew participates in these projects and knows to hup-to whenever Donna Summers' Upside Down plays. That's the call signal. Eleven and Hopper are living in the outskirts of town, helping Eleven train. Poor Max is still in a coma, with Lucas faithfully visiting her and keeping that Kate Bush light on. Finally, we have Holly Wheeler, always the kid sister in the background, playing a new unusual role. The military is on the hunt for Eleven, but Eleven and the gang find Vecna before everything they hold dear is taken away? The next three episodes drop on Christmas Day, and the finale drops on New Year's Eve, with theatrical releases happening in some cities. Do you have your tickets? Welcome to Derry, Episode 6: In the Name of the Father
With only three episodes left, Welcome to Derry gives us the gift of a moment of calm before the storm. Yes, the kids and adults are left reeling after their interactions with It/Pennywise in the sewer, but there's a moment of reprieve as Ronnie reunites with her dad and the Black soldier blow off some steam at the newest dive in town, The Black Spot. Not everyone is having a good time though, certainly not Lilly, Dick Hallorann, or the Hanlon family. We also get a pretty big reveal in regards to a certain employee of Juniper Hill, Ingrid Kersh. As usual, we go through our Easter eggs, our MVP, our rating, and the character beats that made us scream, laugh, and lean forward. Next week's episode is gearing up to be a big one, The Black Spot. This is where all the junk will go down. Will the Muschiettis be able to land their paper plane on Main Street? Have to wait a whole week to find out.

Welcome to Derry, episode 5: 29 Neibolt Street
This was certainly an episode with lots of twists, turns, and suspense. It's the perfect start to a well-laid crescendo towards a glorious and terrifying season 1 climax at The Black Spot. Steve and I give our predictions and awards for MVP character, plus our episode rating. Next weeks episode will be titled In the Name of the Father.Episode 5 picks up right where episode 4 left off with Hallorann believing he has extracted the pertinent information from Taniel. The military, represented by General Shaw, immediately organize a mission to send Hanlon and Hallorann down under the sewers with Colonel Fuller and an entourage to tighten the perimeter of pillars around It. Of course, this plan all goes all wrong, especially since Taniel left out some vital pieces of information. They didn't get everything. Somehow, he found the strength to block their attempts to rob all of his secrets. Meanwhile the kids organize their own rescue mission to bring poor Phil Malkin home. An exhausted Matty appears on top of the Standpipe inside his cozy yellow tent. He reveals he survived by watching Pennywise tear apart the other kids. Lilly galvanizes the group to brave the sewers using the aid of "mommy's little helper." Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. Stranger Things Season 4.1 discussion with Darryl Mansel and Harrison Martin
This episode was originally recorded on June 12, 2022. Stranger Things, season 4, was so great that I was overwhelmed with the need to discuss with other fans. Darryl Mansel, Harrison Martin, and I converged to discuss everything Hawkins, Satanic Panic, and Upside Down. It's full of spoilers and juicy tidbits. It may not be quite as great as winning an Americantendo, but give it a listen. We discuss the new characters, theories about Vecna, and what will be Nancy's song. Let us know what you think. About Stranger Things season 4: After surviving the battle of Starcourt Mall, the Hawkins gang has broken up, with the Byers' and Eleven moving to sunny California. Welcome to Derry, episode 4: The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function
Steve Barnes and I are joined by Reed Lackey of the Fear of God podcast to discuss episode 4 of Welcome to Derry. Episode 4 is what we at 1 of my Stories like to call a Barnes burner, in honor of our friend Steve Barnes. This episode takes us even further into the past with the first ever on-screen adaptation of It's origin story. As part of General Shaw's continued attempt to find the hiding place of It, he decides to use the power of Hallorann to force Taniel to reveal the location. He gets what he wants, but this will likely just open a channel for Pennywise to grow in his powers. In addition to this glorious 20-minute story within a story, there are sizzling character interactions between Hallorann and Leroy Hanlon, who has turned on full dad protection mode. Charlotte has been activated by Hank Grogan's case to earn him some justice. Now that Hallorann and the military have learned about Neibolt House, how long will they resist before they try to enter gun's blazing? Reed Lackey is a film critic with NC Film Critics and is the co-host of the Fear of God podcast. He is a lover of all things horror, but even more than that, he loves discussing those stories with his friends (or whomever will listen). So he spends his days in southern California with his wife and son writing, reading, working, watching movies & TV, and having as many meaningful conversations as possible about all of the interesting stories all around us, and how we find ourselves in them. You can find him at thefearofgodpodcast.com. Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. All of Steve's stuff can be found at Sweetchildoftime.com. Lindsey Dunn is a film critic with membership in both NC Film Critics and Southeastern Film Critics. Welcome to Derry, episode 3: Now You See It
Do you see what I see? Episode 3 delivered some wonderful surprises with an unexpected trip to the 1908 timeline and a meet cute with multiracial characters two cycles ago. While the VFX in the cemetery scene took us out of the scary, weird tone, there was enough richness to save things from going off the tracks too hard. We discuss those baseball jerseys at the Special Projects building. Then onto Easter eggs, character arcs, our favorite characters, and top scenes. Will Rose be there to save Francis again? Will the adults believe the photo evidence they see? Where was Hank Grogan at 11:30 pm the night of the murder? And how is this mysterious housekeeper? Steve rated this episode 3 turtles, and I rated it 4 turtles. Recap: In 1908, a young boy named Francis visits a circus that ignites his fears for a skeleton man. He also meets Rose, who we know as Second Hand Rose. These two kids meet again as adults, realizing they are on opposite sides of a turf war. Meanwhile Clint Bowers visits Hank Grogan and tries another tactic to get him to confess. Major Hanlon and his buddy Captain Russo are ordered to take Dick Hallorann in the air to get closer to the target. He has a vision, and Hanlon save Hallorann’s life. Hallorann shares an awkward family dinner with the Hanlon family, where they have a meeting of the minds. Lilly is released from Juniper Hill much quicker than expected. She returns to school and apologizes to Ronnie. The two of them convince Rich and Will to help them set up a séance of sorts to encourage the spirits of their ancestors to show up so they can take pictures. It’s risky business but they get some photos. One photo is of a clown. Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. A Conversation with Director Lotfy Nathan About New Film THE CARPENTER'S SON
I enjoyed talking to Lotfy Nathan about his controversial new movie THE CARPENTER'S SON. Based loosely on the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, an apocryphal gospel not in the canonical Bible, THE CARPENTER'S SON speculates what might have taken place in between Jesus' birth, and his official ministry. My interest in the film was sparked when I came across the trailer in October. As a Cage completionist, I'm honor bound to watch any film with Nicolas Cage, but I also feel a special kind of way about the combination of Noah Jupe and FKA Twigs reuniting again for another film after their bond was sealed in HONEY BOY. Before the film has even come out, 223 beings have miraculously left reviews, most of them composed, to my shame, of fellow Christian who assume the worst whenever a movie about Jesus is made that's not by Angel Studios. As a professional, I felt it was fair for the director to talk about his reasons for making the film and to have an opportunity to speak about the choices he made. I have seen the film and hope to write a review shortly. To learn more about the film, look up Lotfy on Instagram @lotfy_ or @magnoliapics. Or to find a theater, visit TheCarpentersSonMovie.com.

Welcome to Derry, episode 2: The Thing in the Dark
Things are heating up for episode 2. Both Steve and I agree that Barbara and Andy Muschietti have only stepped up their game in this next chapter. With only eight episodes to play with, they are already putting together the mechanics that will converge plotlines into a climactic conclusion. In addition, the horror scenes that Ronnie and Lilly survive are lengthy, terrifying, and reflective of their real-world guilt. After a brief recap, we discuss Easter eggs, character arcs, the two scare scenes, our favorite characters, and top scenes. Both of us rated this episode 4 out of 5 turtles. Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. All of Steve's stuff can be found at Sweetchildoftime.com. Welcome to Derry, episode 1: Pilot
"Oh we got trouble. Right here in River City. With a capital T. That rhymes with P, and that stands for pool!" The Music Man was featured front and center in this pilot episode. Steve and I met to go over our sundry thoughts. We had different reactions, but we had plenty to talk about. After our knee jerk reactions, we go into some listener feedback. Then it's onto the Kitchener Ironworks Easter Egg hunt, where we pull out all the Stephen King easter eggs. We round out with some character arcs and our rating from 1-5 turtles. From Cold War fears manifesting as mutant babies to generational trauma appearing as lamp skins, Andy and Barbara Muschietti definitely have our attention. Who attacked Major Hanlon? Is a turtle just a charm on a bracelet? What is going on in special projects? We get into all of that. Don't forget that episode 2 airs two days early, on Halloween night. Stay tuned for our episode recaps, which will drop each week, no later than Thursday. Welcome to Derry Pre-Show
It's been ages since Steve and I recapped a show together, but we're betting all of our clowns on a new show coming to HBO Max called Welcome to Derry. In this episode, we get ready with a tailgate special of show related news. We talk about what we know about the show and review what we know about the town of Derry and all of its sordid history. It's our way of getting ourselves (and hopefully you) hyped for what's to come. The first episode comes out this Sunday, October 26, so think of this as your cram session if you don't have time to re-watch the movies or books. Want to keep up with our recaps? Subscribe and watch for our Thursday releases. Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. A Conversation with Christian Swegal, director of 2025 film SOVEREIGN
I was honored to have the opportunity to speak with Christian Swegal, the director and writer of the film Sovereign, starring Nick Offerman, Dennis Quaid, and Jacob Tremblay. The film premiered at Tribeca in June 2025 and will release in theaters on July 11, 2025. Read my review of the film. Sovereign is based on a true crime that took place in West Memphis in 2010. After being pulled over for what should have been a routine traffic stop, father and son Jerry and Joe Kane opened fire on two officers, killing them in cold blood. Sovereign covers the events that lead up to this crime that is still studied today. The father and son duo were self-proclaimed "Sovereign Citizens," folks who believe themselves to be above the laws of the federal and state governments. Swegal tells this story with empathy and perspective, creating context for the Kane's beliefs and eventual downfall. After talking about some of his personal motivations and inspirations for cinematic filmmaking, Swegal shares the research and reasoning behind his storytelling methodology. Swegal's drive to understand different perspectives mirrors my own ideology closely. It was a pleasure to speak to him about his film. About Christian Swegal: Christian Swegal is a writer and director working across film and television. He co-wrote the feature film "Proud Mary" for Screen Gems, created "Solar," a pilot developed for Syfy, and he collaborated with Werner Herzog to develop "Fordlandia" for AMC. He is a graduate of USC School of Cinematic Arts. You can follow Christian on IG: @cswegal.

Each episode, one pilgrim shares their memories and reflections from the trip, starting with myself. We hope you will enjoy listening to each of these stories. Today’s pilgrim is Rev. Dr. Tammy Rodman. Dr. Rodman attended Shaw University, got a BA in Psychology, and then went on to get a Doctorate of Ministry in Christian Education and Urban Ministries from United Theological Seminary. She is a trained community organizer and helps groups to mobilize and work towards sustainable models of operation. She has worked closely with DurhamCares, where she helped to direct and facilitate the Durham Pilgrimage of Pain and Hope for almost four years. She currently serves at Reality Ministries where she works as volunteer coordinator and supervisor-mentor for Duke Divinity interns. Dr. Rodman is actually the catalyst for the podcast because on the last evening, she shared a vulnerable poem about her experiences of pain in walking through the Legacy Museum on the final day of the trip. Sharing pain helps release the person feeling pain from carrying that burden alone and gives us as listeners a rare gift – a chance to hold space for another’s pain and let its presence change the way you see the world. So often when people share pain centering on racism, listeners receive it as accusation and indictment, instead of an opportunity and a gift. How can we change if we don’t see pain? Before healing, pain’s presence must be known and shared. If you would like to learn more about the Alabama Pilgrimage, contact DurhamCares at durhamcares.org. And now onto our show. Here Movie Discussion with Steve Barnes (Introvoid)
Steve and I talk about the one-location film, HERE, directed by Robert Zemeckis. HERE is co-written by Zemeckis and Erick Roth and based on a graphic novel by Richard McGuire. It’s a FORREST GUMP reunion with Zemeckis at the helm and Tom Hanks and Robin Wright as co-leads. Other cast members include Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, and Nikki Amuka-Bird. A movie with an intriguing concept, HERE takes place across centuries at the same geographical coordinates, starting with the time of the dinosaurs. Its nonlinear structure shows seven different families who live there. The scenery and décor changes with the times, and each family experiences their home differently. Here makes generous use of generative AI to de-age its characters. We talk about that choice, as well as the choices each of these families make. Truth be told, neither of us liked this movie too much, but we always enjoy our conversations, and we think you will, too. The ideas in the film certainly cover the gamut of human experiences through the different lives that pass through.

Alabama Pilgrimage Reflections by Lindsey: Who Can Understand It?
This episode is part of my Alabama Pilgrimage series, where I interview friends who traveled with me through the important sites of the Civil Rights Movement. Each episode, one pilgrim shares their memories and reflections from the trip, starting with myself. We hope you will enjoy listening to each of these stories. Today’s pilgrim is me, Lindsey Dunn! My podcast partner, Steve Barnes, also known as Introvoid, was gracious enough to agree to interview me so that I wouldn’t have to talk to myself. I’m a librarian and film critic who grew up in Lafayette, Indiana. I moved to North Carolina in 1998 and specifically to Durham in 2016. I heard about the pilgrimage at my church and knew immediately that I needed to go. If you would like to see the pictures I took that go with some of my memories, please visit my website at 1ofmystories.com and search for Alabama. A Conversation with Sam and Noah of Speak. Documentary [Full Frame Film Festival]
I got a chance to interview Sam and Noah, two subjects from the documentary Speak. The film documents the year-long journey of five highs school students as they prepare for the NSDA Nationals in Original Oratory competition, or OO, as they call it. We talk about their speeches, what it was like to have cameras on them, and where their life has taken them next. I never competed in speech or debate team, my public speaking at school was done through drama club and school theater, but it was an absolute joy to speak to these enthusiastic young people who were able to channel their thoughts into a well-researched persuasive speech. Speak. is directed by Guy Mossman and Jennifer Tiexiera and is currently making a film festival circuit. SAM is currently a senior in high school from Minnesota (was a junior when he was featured in the documentary. His speech was about the weaponization of nostalgia. He enjoys musical theater, pickleball, reading in his hammock, and enjoys Game of Thrones. He would love to be in another movie one day, and if he was in another documentary, he would love the topic to be musical theater. NOAH is a college freshman from Texas (was a senior in college at the time of the documentary). His current favorite film is the LEGO Batman movie. He’s working on his ping pong skills and wants to work in foreign relations. His speech was about reframing the way we think about and talk about suicide. If he was to work with film again, he would enjoy trying his hand at the work behind the scenes. Lindsey Dunn is the film critic known as 1 of my Stories. The Amazing Mr. Blunden: A Time Travel Movie You May Have Missed (Unless you are British)
I’m joined by “Introvoid” Steve Barnes and “Voidmaster” Nate Dunn to discuss one of my favorite childhood time travel movies, Lionel Jeffries’ The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972). We discuss my history with this movie, the intricacies of time travel by drinking, and what modes of time travel we think should be created. You may have never seen the film, but it was a holiday mainstay in British homes in the 1970s and 80s. Description of the movie: It's a grungy night in smoggy London 1918. Mr. Blunden visits the home of the Allen family, consisting of the newly widowed Mrs. Allen, Lucy, Jamie, and little Benjamin. He offers Mrs. Allen the opportunity to take a job as a caretaker of an old derelict country manor called Langley Park. Once she's out of the room, he asks the two eldest children to help him correct a wrong he committed 100 years ago. He leaves the details fuzzy but assures them they will know what to do when the time is right. Our adventures with Mr. Blunden and these two children Lucy and Jamie, will involve ghosts, time travel, magic potions, sentient libraries, attempted murder by poison, attempted insurance fraud, romance, and hidden heritage. Available to watch on Amazon Prime. About Steve: Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. He is currently recapping the Time Bandits TV series and interviewing cast members from that show. All of Steve's stuff can be found at Sweetchildoftime.com. Nate: Follow Nate at @Void.master on IG. He is currently working on an album that will be released in 2025 called The Dank Arts. Also follow @Adoomcult to hear the band Nate is playing with in Pittsburgh, a fun blend of Appalachian horror and doom music.

Music Movie Series: Whiplash, Mr. Holland's Opus, and the mentors in our lives
This podcast is just my tempo. Steve, Lindsey, and special guest, Heather Barnes (Steve’s wife) discuss the behavior and teaching techniques of two cinematic music teachers, Fletcher from Whiplash and Mr. Holland from Mr. Holland’s Opus. As fellow children of musicians, Lindsey and Heather share their experience growing up with a father who wanted to encourage true excellence from their students. Steve also talks about his mentors and how they shaped him. And we all think about what it really takes to encourage greatness as a mentor/teacher. We also talk about the unique stories these teachers spout to motivate their students. Sometimes, these same stories serve as ugly mirrors to their true, flawed philosophies. Expect the usual search for truth served with bountiful doses of vulnerability and humor. It’s what you can always expect from 1 of my Stories. The music in this episode is an original composition by Michael Dunn (Lindsey’s dad), and performed live by the grades 4-5 students of the Crooked Creek Crickets on May 14, 1969.

The Arts & Faith Top 25 Spiritually Significant Films About Crime and Punishment
In this episode, we cover the recently released Arts & Faith Top 25 spiritually significant films about crime and punishment, chosen by a jury of 17 film critics. I was one of the jurors, along with my co-host today, Christian Jessup. We talk about Arts & Faith, how this list came to be, and then list all the selected movies, focusing on some for deeper dives. You can find the full list on the Arts & Faith website, at ArtsAndFaith.com, as well as a justification of each film from one of the jurors. About Arts & Faith: The community originally began as a discussion board where members met to discuss the intersection of arts and faith. Today it's a website, but there's also a discord for people who want to join. The community collaborates to release three kinds of lists. One is an annual ecumenical jury that chooses the top 10 films of interest to Christians for the year. This has been going on since at least 2014.Then not every year, but some years, they release a top 100 films, which is ranked list. The last year this was done was 2020. Lastly, the group puts out top 25 lists on a particular theme. This can include movies from any year. This last kind is what we are talking about today. About Christian Jessup: Christian Jessup is a filmmaker and critic based in Raleigh, North Carolina. With a diverse background in online media, podcasting, television appearances, and jury selections, he brings a unique perspective to film evaluation, exploring the intersection of faith and cinema, recommending films with moral and spiritual depth. A Tale of Two Dojos: Cobra Kai vs. Miyagi-Do
As the fandom awaits the next and final season of Cobra Kai, let's take a moment to appreciate the fine season 5 storytelling that broke open the mythos further in the Miyagi-verse. In season 5, The Big 3 (John Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald) and their fine team of writers filled in some gaps in the Miyagi-verse timeline that solidify the cannon of how these dojos operate and function in the world of San Fernando Valley and beyond. These events gel together to create a picture of two truths that are irrefutable in the Miyagi-verse: Cobra Kai wrecks chaos and division; Miyagi-Do brings reconciliation and redemption. A closer look at this timeline of events elucidates a mythology that leads to inevitable conclusions for our characters. In other words, careful analysis helps us theorize where the story will end, and what will always happen in these respective dojos.

Wishing Well (Ft. Lindsey Dunn) by Introvoid
Music by Introvoid, vocals by Lindsey Dunn, written by Stomper, mixed by Steve Barnes. My podcast partner Steve Barnes and I have recapped every episode of the Netflix series, Dark. We wanted to express our love of the show by recording some music from the show. This track is Season 1, episode 8: As You Sow, So You Shall Reap (S1E8). The song is about the ability of the human heart to keep believing they will be united with the one they love one day. The storyteller describes going to the wishing well to call for their darling. In their heart, they know this person isn't coming back (There's a creeping doubt run up my spine). Yet a part hopes against hope (Gonna find you down in the wishing well). They are stuck hoping for a happy ending that may never come true. A bleak sentiment, to be sure, but haven't we all been there?

Sweet Child of Time Presents: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood discussion
Jason Kleeberg of the Force Five podcast joins Steve and I in a trip down nostalgia lane with Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s about five years since this film came out, and with QT announcing his decision to shelve with his “last” film, The Movie Critic, it seemed the perfect time to revisit a film we all consider a new classic. We talk about the true stories that shaped the movie, including the good, the bad, and the ugly of spaghetti westerns. We also talk about what makes it such a great film and what we think it all means. About the film: Actor Rick Dalton gained fame and fortune by starring in a 1950s television Western but is now struggling to find meaningful work in a Hollywood that he doesn't recognize anymore. He spends most of his time drinking and palling around with Cliff Booth, his easygoing best friend and longtime stunt double. Rick also happens to live next door to Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate -- the filmmaker and budding actress whose futures will forever be altered by members of the Manson Family. About Jason Kleeberg: Kason Kleeberg is the host, writer, producer, and editor of the Force Five Podcast. In addition to being a podcaster, he’s a Blacklist screenwriter (The Gumshoe, Powerbomb, Anglerfish), filmmaker (Clarks), and Telly Award winner (2005) from the San Francisco Bay Area. You can find him on all the channels at https://www.forcefivepodcast.com/. About Steve Barnes: Steve Barnes is guitarist for stoner metal band Introvoid, and also plays guitar for the cover band Rebecca Crow. All of Steve's stuff can be found at https://sweetchildoftime.com/. About Lindsey Dunn: Lindsey Dunn is a film critic with membership in both NC Film Critics and Southeastern Film Critics. She loves all things Cobra Kai, Netflix Dark, indie horror, and any stories about complicated relationships. You can find her at 1ofmystories.com and at her linktree: https://linktr.ee/1ofmystories.
