ALL CANADIAN SPECIAL opening with a moving, loving, honest tribute to the accordion, on the 197th anniversary of the day (May 23, 1829) the patent was first given to Cyrill Demian by Viennese officials who most certainly had no idea just how integral that weird boxy thing would become to expressing Canadian hyphenate identities through song and stories.Playlist: Cameron Nickerson - Little Country HomeKelly Cliperton - Meet Me At The RailwayHowells - The Pressure (Acoustic)Cryptozoologists - Someone Egged My CarGene Kucherawy - Gene's PolkaHarry Hibbs, featuring Johnny Burke and the Caribou Showband - Brennan On The MoorEmilia Volodymyrivna Ostapchuk (Andrusiw), featuring Michael Minsky, Herman Kropatschek, the Viennese Symphony Orchestra - White Cottage In The OrchardRon - Polka Medley: Arbourg Polka, Accordion Polka, Southern PolkaFemale Beat - Walking the MeadowsAndy De Jarlis and His Early Settlers - Wayne's Old Time WaltzGaby Haas And His Barndance Gang - Barbary PolkaWilf Carter - Memories Of My Little Grey-Haired Mother In The WestKing Biscuit Boy, featuring Crowbar - Highway 61Tegan and Sara - Hang On To The NightHerbie Hancock , featuring Leonard Cohen, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Vinnie Colaiuta, Lionel Loueke - The Jungle LineQuit Music - sometimes i don'tRolf Boon, featuring The University of Lethbridge Contemporary Music Ensemble - Waves For Two Synthesisers, Percussion, Guitar, and SaxophoneCanadian Brass, featuring William McCauley - StaggeringStatus/Non-Status - Basket WeavingJim Balfour and Friends, featuring Don Griffith (piano) - Still VerticalWhitehorse - Manitoba Death StarDiamondtown - Faded LinesLoreena McKennitt - The Bonny Swans (Live)Lucy Maud Montgomery, featuring Marsha Epic Harris - The Children's GardenThe Joel Plaskett Emergency - True Patriot LoveNova Scotiables - Down Donegal's Stairs

I've been re reading books I loved as a kid, recently. Maybe it's to tap into my inner child. or to relive the glory days of being 6. Or the books are just good. That's always a possibility. I'm enjoying re reading these stories I either half-remember or don't recall at all. A few I remember differently. Currently, I've hit the 1960s/70s Dr. Who Novelisations streak, books that were old even when I was a child, and I am having the most lovely time going back into these. Novelisations of nostalgia. Nostalgisation. Today's tunes come from that place. Music I listened to while reading Doctor Who and the Tomb of the Cybermen by Gerry Davis, published by Target Books (not that Target), novel first published in 1978, TV serial broadcast 1967. Went for a walk without my headphones t'other day. Was early, north of seven in the morning. Couple of cars scurrying around my particular corner of suburbia. Their sounds barely registering. My dog and I wear bells when we walk, because the coyotes respect the bells, and avoid us. Coyotes don't enjoy the peals and tones. But they know that we do, so they let us well alone. We wear our music as armour. The stylish kind, fur lined. Cozy. Not too heavy. Light as sound.Playlist: Audrey Ochoa - The Green PlaceOra Cogan - Too LateEm Spel - Bird Or SnakeIntermontane Superterrane - The Chickadee SongMiki Yamanaka - Trinkle TinkleKNEECAP - AN RAVarious Artists - Afifa El Hawa by Al MassrieenRon - Kozak Nedley: Traditional Ukrainian Folk DanceRon - Fox Trot Medley: So Long, It's Been Good To Know You / Till We Meet Again / Home, Sweet Homebugswallow - all crittersThe Stooges - DirtRalph Sutton - Cataract RagElvis Costello and the Attractions - Shabby DollThe Irish Rovers - Two Little BoysThe Cameroon Choristers, featuring John F. Been noticing osprey nests a lot more recently, but I don't think the ospreys have migrated north yet, too early, they prefer to arrive in May. When I was in uni, I knew the ospreys would arrive right after my last final exam, or right when my last final paper was due. I'm noticing last year's osprey nests more now because I want to see the ospreys, so my brain is training my eyes to pick out evidence of osprean nature. I, like the rivers, am readying myself for spring, and her incoming guests.Playlist: Johnny Smith, featuring Don Lamond (drums), Arnold Fishkin (bass), Perry Lopez (rhythm guitar) - I'll Remember AprilAndrew MacKelvie's Many Worlds - Mirror EraBig Country - In A Big CountryAnne Murray, featuring Amy Grant - Could I Have This DanceNat Jaffe Trio, featuring Nat Jaffe (piano), Remo Palmieri (guitar), Leo Guarnieri (bass) - A Hundred Years From Todayfferlys - good morning, mr. magpieThe Sheepdogs - The OwlKing Biscuit Boy with Crowbar - Biscuit's BoogieBlack Sabbath - Planet CaravanCarter Felker - FrancineEm Spel - The PoetHellripper - The Art Of ResurrectionKenny Baker - Little JazzJay Coda Walker & Pete Johnson - Wicked GameThe Red Hot Chili Pipers - Rory McLeod / Molly's Jig / The Famous BaravanIan Wollman, featuring Derek Piotr - Twisty Fist / The Mouth That Eats The NoseThe Polyjesters - Is She Really Going out With Him?Jeff Beck - Rock My PlimsoulJosh White, featuring Jacques Wolf - I Got A Head Like A RockLeahy - The Call To DanceHotfoot Quintet - These Old BluesGreat Big Sea - Excursion Around The BayCharley Crockett - Fastest Gun AliveCounting Crows - Sullivan Street
