What are Canadian prisons actually like for both prisoners and the people who work there? In this episode, Rose Marie speaks with a women named 'Maureen' who served 9 years at the Grand Valley Institute for Women after shooting her abusive partner. Rose Marie also speaks with Rosemary Redshaw, the former chaplain at Grand Valley, about her experiences working with women dealing with grief and trauma, and the institutional shifts to an increasingly closed off federal prison system.

Since Britain left the indian subcontinent in 1947 certain territories remain contested. Both Kashmir and Manipur claim independence and do not see themselves as part of India or Pakistan. In this episode Rose Marie talks to Sofia Ahmed and Binalakshmi Nepram about the occupation of these territories by the Indian Army and the massive human rights violations which continue to happen.

This episode features conversations with Cherry Smiley and Sheila Jeffreys about sex work and how its impacting women. Cherry is an indigenous feminist activist from from the Thompson Navajo nations and phd student at Concordia who is bringing attention to the impact of sex work on aboriginal women and girls. Sheila Jefferies is a retired academic and radical feminist originally from the UK.
