On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, soldiers who had been firing at each other only hours before stepped out of their trenches, exchanged greetings, sang carols, shared gifts, and briefly set aside the violence of war. In this episode, we briefly look at the harsh trench conditions that emerged on the Western Front during the first months of the First World War.
