Realistic Budgeting & Side Hustle Options for ADHD/ AuDHDers - Steph from Abundant on a Budget

I'm joined by Kendra Koch, founder of Divergently a community platform for late diagnosed neurodivergent women. Perimenopause Myth Busting & Navigating MHT / HRT In Australia with Dr. Ceri Cashell
My guest, Dr. Ceri Cashell, and I get into all things Perimenopause and MHT / HRT today! We open with some Perimenopause Myth Busting and then dive head first into women's hormones and Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT / HRT) - while the hormones we talk about are relative to anyone going through perimenopause, she outlines specifics about what is available in Australia, what is subsidized on the PBS, and what we'll have to pay privately for (spoiler, it's testosterone). Head to the 24:40 mark to jump into the MHT / HRT breakdown. Dr. Cashell is one of the co-founders of the new online education platform called Healthy Hormones. It's an Australia specific platform for educating other healthcare professionals and allied health professionals about peri-menopause about menopause and hormone replacement therapy. They are also developing a patient portal side where as patients, we will have access to information where we can learn more about our hormone journey and learn how to advocate for ourselves. Unfortunately she is not taking on new patients, but that is why her Healthy Hormones platform is so fantastic because we can still benefit from her work, even if we can't actually have her as our doctor.Connect with Dr. Ceri Cashell: Instagram @DrCeriCashellhttps://drcericashell.com/ Healthy Hormones - https://www.healthyhormones.au/ Resources Mentioned: Dr. Cashell's "Hysteria to Hero Doctors" article"Secrets of Women's Healthy Aging" by Cassandra SzoekeMenopause & Peri-Menopause AUSTRALIA FB group WellFemme - Women's Health Care, Telehealth (Aus)Australasian Menopause Society Want to get in touch? Navigating Fluctuating Capacity in Motherhood
What does an impulsive haircut have to do with understanding your capacity in motherhood? Listen to find out. The TLDR version is as we understand and navigate our fluctuating capacity in motherhood it's important that we understand we simply DO NOT have the same capacity we had before becoming a mother. And the capacity changes with each additional child, but also through the month and years for us. It's something we are going to have to constantly navigate and figure out. Some of us do it with more grace than other, but we're all doing it. FREE DOWNLOAD: Regulating Tools for Overstimulated Moms Group Coaching: Intention Want to get in touch? Unique Minds - Dr. Amy Joynt's self-guided journal for late diagnosed ADHD Women
Dr. Amy Joynt has a story similar to so many of us, she made it all the way to her late thirties without knowing she was ADHD. And once it was uncovered she was flooded with emotions. She took all of those emotions and experiences and created a wonderful self-guided journal to help other late diagnosed ADHD women process their experience. As I mention in the episode, the journal is part prompts and part memoir. It reads very much like sitting with a friend and having them say "this is my story, now you tell me yours". It's inviting, thought provoking, and encouraging. Exactly what so many of us late diagnosed folks need when we're trying to navigate the muddy waters post-diagnosis. Dr. Lotta Borg Skoglund - Bridging the Gap for ADHD Girls and Women with LetterLife
Dr Lotta Borg Skoglund is a Swedish researcher, physician, psychiatrist, and co-founder of LetterLife. Her book "ADHD Girls to Women: Getting on the Radar" was just released in English. It's available at all major book sellers and via audiobook. In this episode we talk about how women and girls are too often abandoned by their health care providers, diagnosed with ADHD years after their male counterparts, and struggle to find information and support for their many co-morbid conditions. Dr. Skoglund shares how the healthcare system typically is made up of silos of specialities and it's only once those silos are broken and the different sectors begin to work with each other can real solutions come into play. We discuss how hormones effect everything - which those of us with a cycle already knew. We address if cyclic dosing might be the answer. How knowing your ADHD type and characteristics can be key in advocating for yourself and treating your ADHD. LetterLife is a blog, site, and app created by Dr Skoglund and fellow researchers/doctors/clinicians. I have been using the app for a few months and love that it helps me track my symptoms and helps me develop more self awareness around my cycle and symptom presentations during my cycle. The ADHD Accountant (w/ actionable tips!) - Tina Mathams
If you're neurodivergent and don't already follow Tina (aka The ADHD Accountant) I cannot recommend it enough. As we discuss in the episode, the majority of financial advice out there is "typical". Meant for neurotypical people with neurotypical ways of thinking and spending. When we look at our neurodivergent brains (and especially if you're ADHD) most of that typical advice will not be easy to implement, will not take into account our struggles with executive functioning, or our potential impulsive spending. Tina gives real, actionable tips in the episode. She gives advice on where to start - hint, it's not as simple as "make a budget" and she dives into her thoughts on children and pocket money/allowance. If you want more after you've listened to this episode I highly recommend listening to her podcast "The ADHD Money + Finance Podcast". I've listened to all of them and gotten so much great information. Resentment & Expectations in Relationships
In this episode I talk about resentment and expectations in relationship. How resentment can take root, what that word may mean for both you and your partner, and so much more. I also dive into looking at the expectations we place on our partners and how unmet expectations can lead to resentment and even questioning the relationship as a whole. But we shouldn't expect our partners to be all of the things to us. That's impossible. Navigating Your Relationship as a Neurodivergent Person with Pasha Marlowe, MFT
Pasha Marlowe, MFT, joined me to talk about navigating our romantic relationships as a neurodivergent person. She shares her story of being late realised neurodivergent (AuDHD) and queer and how that impacted her marriage. We discussed how we can fall into patterns as a couple and need to change things up to see these patterns - sometimes that's with the help of a coach/counsellor/therapist. She gave tips for how to get on the same page with your partner - both in regards to the relationship and parenting. As well as ways we can bring our partners along on our realisation journey, but at their own pace.Follow her on socials at: TikTok: @neuroqueercoach Instagram: @neuroqueercoach Links Discussed: PashaMarlowe.comMagic Mind Drink (get one month supply free with her link)Esther Perel TED Talk PAIRED app Listen to her podcast: NeuroQueering: Beyond the Intersection of Neurodiversity and QueernessHer Course "Same Bed, Different Brains" (an online course for neurodivergent couples)Want to get in touch? Mothering as an autistic ADHDer - Amber Collins aka "NeurodivergentAmber"
(Episode 2) I was joined by Amber Collins, Neurodivergent Amber, to chat about mothering as an autistic - ADHDer. As to be expected when you get two ADHDers together, the conversation bounced all over the place from mothering to advocacy, to gaslighting yourself pre-diagnosis, the pressure of mothering with social media, and so much more. A special note for those listeners based in England, at 6:00 she highlights how you can go through your health advisor to refer for suspected autism or other concerns, and at 32:00 we talk about the "Right to chose" pathway to get a private but NHS official ADHD diagnosis. You can follow Amber on the below socials to learn more about her advocacy work and the exciting projects she has coming up! I wanted to give more context as to why this podcast will highlight both motherhood and neurodivergence as the main points. For me the two are so intertwined because becoming a mother made me realise I am neurodivergent.
