Barracks Tales

A collection of stories about junior enlisted soldiers in the American Army between the end of Vietnam and the First Gulf War. Not a book about war. Not a military memoir. These stories are mostly true, at least as true as four decades of time passed will allow. The stories are mine, I either participated in the action reported, or observed it first-hand. As many of the participants are still alive, I have changed their names. In some cases, individuals in these stories are an amalgam of more than one real person. Should any of my old comrades recognize themselves here, and wish to add their own observations, I hope they will feel free to do so. I offer no defense for the objectionable nature of some of the people in these stories, nor for the crudity of their opinions, actions, or language. It was a different time, with different sensibilities. We were who we were
