Season 2 Episode 2: Small Tears Tara Knowles from Sons of Anarchy seems to be a fairly polarizing character in the SOA fandom. She’s also pretty polarizing AS a character. For the majority of season 1 and the start of season 2, she spends a lot of time questioning whether she has what it takes to be with Jax and be apart of the SAMCRO lifestyle. Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy is one of the most compelling characters in television history. Season 2 Episode 1: Albification In many ways, Jax Teller is born in the first episode of season 2 of Sons of Anarchy. The thing you remember from this episode is obviously what happens to Gemma at the end. And it might overshadow how much foreshadowing of Jax’s character we get in this episode. How he makes decisions for those around him, the type of leader he’ll become and of course his friction with Clay. This is an early look at how the character of Jax will come to be! There’s also a lot of drama surrounding Opie returning of apparently leaving his kids for weeks after the death of his wife Donna — we get into that and more! Sons of Anarchy might be the greatest drama written for television and I nearly missed it! I’m Zac and welcome to belated binge sons of anarchy!  Our beloved members of SAMCRO graced tv screens from 2008-2014 and I didn’t join the ride until 2018! 4 years after the series finale.  I was a few months removed from buying my first Harley Davidson of my own - I was scrolling Netflix for something new to watch and I stumbled across that iconic photo of a bareback Jax, scull on his back, gun in his wasteband and remembered that back in college people raved about this show. So I thought I’d give it a try.  From the first scene of the pilot - this show resonated so deep with me. This was my dream as a child played out on screen! 8 year old me wanted to be Jax Teller - he just hadn’t heard the name yet.  So when 28 year old me saw it, he was hooked!  Now I go back to it about once a year, not always from the beginning, not always all the way through. But always getting my fix at some point. Except last year… I waited. I saved it. For THIS podcast!  Now we’re going back to the beginning - every episode - reliving the chaotic ride of SOA!  I’ll dive into character choices and development, plot twists and conveniences, sprinkle in some nuggets from what I’ve learned in the real world about biker culture, and I’ll bring on some guests to join the discussion! We get our first glimpse of Jax as a leader of SAMCRO in AK-51. Not so much by choice, but my necessity. When Clay is taken into ATF custody by Agent Stahl for being an accessory to a crime after one of the suspects placed a call to TM, Jax is thrown into the fire to find a way to:1. Find the people responsible to avoid the whole club getting arrested for selling the guns to people who used them to break out a prisoner, kill a cop and civilians.2. Giving back is a big Opie episode! We find out why Opie was in prison and who in the club let him down when an ex-member comes to see his son's band play at Gemma's town fundraiser. Fitting for a July 4th release, Opie is in charge of fireworks! Jax is tasked with keeping an eye on him and making sure he doesn't cross paths with Opie. This lasts about 4 minutes and the inevitable altercation takes place before Opie and Jax set a punishment in motion for a tattoo that wasn't covered up. While all this is happening at the fundraiser, Clay and the rest of the club are protecting a friend of Otto's who has a "nervous tick kind of thing." The payoff might not be big enough for what comes along with Chucky! Along the way we get more on that ATF agent following the club, and Tara. We get a lesson in family and in loyalty. The Seeds is a funny episode really! It's full of mini side missions. Tig's past relations are brought into question, leading to a side mission to avoid an unfortunate discovery of his DNA that would put SAMCRO at jeopardy. Jax convinces a crow eater to take one for the team and may have contributed to a man being stabbed in the head with an axe??? Clay runs his own side mission with Opie tagging along for a protection run that doesn't go as planned, unless you meant Clay's plan. Abel is expected to make a full recovery and so is Wendy.  Gemma's side mission to find John Teller's manuscript is thwarted by Jax. The episode ends at Gemma and Clay's for dinner, but Opie and Donna aren't in attendance.
