Melissa Skinner
Melissa is the mother of Jonni Skinner, who shares the shocking account which led her to feelings of shame - to sadness - to anger. She was told by social worker Sara Wiener - amongst other pseudoscientific methods of persuasion - that her 13 year old son must go down this path or else he will commit suicide. Melissa was sent to a sex shop to buy a silicone body suit for her son, before the doctors whom she trusted put Jonni on a cocktail of oestrogen and spironolactone before later adding puberty blockers. She details Jonni’s serious health issues which were caused by the negligent treatment, denied by the doctors who were supposed to help.

Dr. Craig Wiener
In this episode, Dr. Craig Wiener joins the podcast to discuss the growing trend of protectionism in Western societies, fueled by the medicalization of psychology and the drive to safeguard individuals against perceived harms. Dr. Wiener shares his extensive experience as a therapist and the philosophy behind his work, including his book 'Backyard Politics,' which examines the dichotomy between protectors and promoters. The conversation delves into how diagnoses like ADHD and gender dysphoria can act as thought-stopping mechanisms, preventing deeper analysis and self-improvement, and the potential societal consequences of over-protectionism. The discussion also addresses the roles of parenting, traditional psychology, and the need for balanced approaches to foster self-reliance and resilience in individuals.http://www.craigwiener.com/
