The adventure continues with a chilling mystery. After a long rest in the haunted woods, two of our heroes awaken to a scene of carnage. The rest of their party has vanished, leaving behind only the bloody corpses of two dire wolves. Alone and surrounded by an eerie silence, they must piece together the violent events of the night. Following a faint trail of blood deeper into the fog-choked forest, the familiar, unsettling laughter of children echoes through the trees. Their path is watched by a murder of ominous ravens, adding to the growing sense of dread. Their investigation takes a dark turn when one of them stumbles upon a horrifying discovery hidden beneath a patch of leaves in the middle of the road. They uncover the rotting corpse of a child. Attempting to do the right thing by giving the poor soul a proper burial, their act of kindness is met with pure horror. The body twitches, and as they attempt to ensure it's truly at rest, a monstrous crow bursts forth from its mouth, revealing a grotesque and unholy trap! Welcome back to our Curse of Strahd adventure! Picking up right where we left off, the party has just survived a chilling encounter with two ghostly children in the dark woods. The peace is shattered when a lone watchman is ambushed by a vicious dire wolf, forcing the entire party to wake up and fight for their lives. After a brutal battle, they are attacked yet again by the wolf's vengeful mate. In the chaos, a mysterious, one-eyed priest named Father Jonathan appears, saving a fallen party member and offering his aid. He reveals he is on a mission from the church to exorcise the nearby Durst family home, a place believed to be haunted by the spirit of a nanny and her unbaptized child. Seeing a chance for an ally and a way out of the woods, the party agrees to join him. Following a less-traveled path, they discover the ominous Durst house. While most of the party is distracted by a strange barn where they rescue a puppy named Shaggy from a vampire-like bat, one adventurer sneaks into the house alone. The door slams shut behind him, trapping him inside as the house's maddening magic takes hold, leaving him to face the horrors within. Will the rest of the party realize he's missing before it's too late?

Charmed by the gold, they are compelled into a waiting carriage that spirits them away into a foggy, mist-shrouded road. When the carriage mysteriously stops and disappears, they find themselves at a lively Vistani festival. Their journey continues on foot into the eerie woods where they are confronted by illusory wolves. After the strange battle, they encounter two ghostly children who claim to be lost. The children's pristine clothing and vague answers raise suspicions, creating a tense debate within the party. As dawn breaks, the children vanish, leaving behind a chilling diary entry that hints at a dark and tragic past.
