    December 8 - 12, 2025 Cottonwood 3's Update

Transcript Below: Hello, Cottonwood families! Welcome back to the December 8th edition of the Cottonwood Podcast for our classroom! *This week we will be studying gingerbread people. The learning goals and projects for this week include: *A science experiment in which your child will be able to see salt crystals forming on a gingerbread man. *A math project that will allow them to work with a balance and see if they can balance pony beads on one side and pom pom balls on the other side. *In language development, your child will continue to practice their name and write about what they would run away from if they were the gingerbread boy or girl. *In art, your child will be working with salt art and making their own gingerbread man out of terra cotta coloured air dry clay to express what they think a gingerbread boy or girl should look like. *Throughout all of this we will continue to work on their fine motor and large motor skills using cutting, writing, colouring, matching, as well as all of our social skills. *In Jesus time, we will focus on the angel coming to Mary and telling her that she will be the one who will carry the promised Messiah. Please remember, also, that church services are available during Advent at St. John at 6:30 on Wednesday. We will also be decorating our classroom for Christmas this week. The Christmas tree will go up with all the decorations for the children to enjoy throughout the season. A big thank you to everyone who participated in the Butter Braids fundraiser this year! Thank you for all of your support! A couple of dates for you to remember: December 20, from 4 to 5, will be our Christmas program. We will provide more information in the coming days. Also, December 23 - January 2, the CDC will be closed for the Christmas holiday. If you have any questions, just let me know in ProCare! Until next time, I'll see you in the classroom! Thanks for tuning in!

    December 1 - 4, 2025 Podcast Newsletter

Hello, Cottonwood families! Welcome back to the next edition of the Cottonwood Podcast for our classroom! *I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving and it was restful and filled with good memories featuring family and friends and most of all, thankfulness to our God for all the blessings that He has given us. *This week, owing to the weather we had last week, we will be studying snow. My learning goals for the end of this week include *In science - Being able to explain that salt melts snow faster than if it melted on its own *In math - continuing to be able to count with a one-to-one correspondence so that your child can have a concept of five to ten objects. *In language development - your child will continue to learn to write their own name and recognize the letter S independently *In art - continue to express themselves through artistic expression through collages, puffy paint, torn paper art, and cutting practice. *Throughout all of this we will continue to work on their fine motor and large motor skills while playing with the snow that God has graciously given us. *In Jesus time, we will be summing up the season of Advent in a week with the focus theme, "God Always Keeps His promises" and will focus on the stories of Adam and Eve, Abraham, the Red Sea, and then when God tells Mary she will have a baby. We will begin the Christmas story next week and focus on a weekly, rather than a daily story. Please remember that it is our policy at the center that there is no such thing as bad weather, only clothing that is insufficient for the weather. As such, if it is above 0* with the windchill factored in, or below 100*, we will be going outside, and please dress your children accordingly. Hats, coats, boots (which are a must in the snow), scarves, and gloves or mittens are necessary for comfortable play outside. A couple of dates for you to remember: December 20 at 4 - 5 will be our Christmas program. We will provide more information in the coming days. Also, December 23 - January 2, the CDC will be closed for the Christmas holiday. If you have any questions, just let me know in ProCare! Until next time, I'll see you in the classroom! Thanks for tuning in!
