Dead Dad Club
by The DDC Podcast
Welcome to the Dead Dad's Club (The DDC) - the club that nobody wants to join, but somehow we all did. We are 5 friends, who've known each other for over 15 years, and we all lost our Dads before turning 30. What started as a safe space and support system between friends, turned into a podcast, where we talk about grief, life, memories and everything in between. Expect trauma responses, dark humour, questionable advice and the occasional emotional moment. This space is for honest and real chats, shared experiences, and to expand our safe space to others who might be going through the same.Trigger warning: Conversations of grief, death, trauma & dark humour. 2 Weddings & 5 Funerals (Part 2)
This week, the DDC swap funerals for weddings… and discover that grief still manages to grab a seat at the top table. The girls talk about navigating engagements, weddings, and all the milestones that are supposed to be filled with joy, whilst carrying the reality that their dads aren’t there to experience them. From father-daughter dance scaries and walking down the aisle, to future wedding anxieties and the bittersweet reality of celebrating without your person. As always, it’s not all tears. There’s laughter, dark humour, and the comforting knowledge that when the DDC girls attend each other’s weddings, none of them will have dads there to trigger each other… silver linings, right? 🌈 Whether you’re planning a wedding, attending one, or simply wondering how grief and celebration can exist in the same room, this episode is for you 🤍Trigger warning: This episode contains discussions around grief, death, anticipatory grief, weddings after loss, and missing a parent during significant life milestones. Please take care whilst listening and come back to it when you feel ready. 🦋

2 Weddings & 5 Funerals (Part 1)
This week, the DDC talk about all things funerals. The girls open up about their personal experiences — the expectations vs reality, the unhinged comments from others, the beige buffet food whilst completely dissociating, and the emotions that came with navigating such a difficult day. Some of the DDC remember every little detail of the funeral, whilst for others it’s a complete blur. Some fixated on the finer details of funeral planning as a way to help them make it through the day. Although all of the girls experienced funerals differently, there were also shared feelings and similarities that connected them all — which are explored throughout this episode. There’s laughter, dark humour, moments of reflection, and most importantly a whole lot of DDC love whilst sharing these experiences together. If you’re wondering what the funeral process may look like, or you’ve sadly already experienced it yourself and found yourself wondering “was that normal?” — this episode is for you 🤍As always, please take care whilst listening. This episode contains discussions surrounding grief, death, funerals, loss and trauma. 🦋

Chapel of Rest or Chapel of Trauma?
This week, the DDC are talking about one of the hardest and least spoken about parts of grief — seeing someone after they’ve died. 🦋Some of the DDC went to the chapel of rest, for some it was the hospital, and for others it was their place of death. We talk about closed coffins, expectations vs reality, embalming, decomposition, regrets.. the things they feel nobody prepares you for when someone you love dies. It’s raw, uncomfortable at times, emotional… and somehow still full of laughter too (including a very questionable comparison to a decomposed body and a mouldy loaf of bread). This episode won’t be for everyone, but if you’ve ever carried questions, guilt, fear, or curiosity around this part of loss — you are definitely not alone.Trigger warning: this episode contains detailed discussions around death, viewing a loved one after death, decomposition, embalming, grief, and trauma. Please take care while listening and come back to it when you feel ready 🤍

DROP DEAD.
This week, Kerry & Emma are in the hot seat. We’re talking sudden loss — the kind that turns everything upside down in a moment. From what life looked like before, to everything that’s come after… the shock, the questions, the anger, and learning how to keep going when you never had a choice. There are tears, there’s laughter, and it’s very DDC — honest, unfiltered, and yes… tin foil hats may or may not get a mention.Trigger warning: this episode contains discussion of sudden death and grief, which some listeners may find difficult. Please take care while listening and come back to it when you feel ready 🤍If you’re part of this club, or trying to understand it — this one’s for you. 🦋

The Moment That Changed Everything...
Five friends under 30 come together for the very first episode of Dead Dad Club, a podcast born out of shared loss and unexpected connection. In this opening conversation, we each introduce ourselves and tell our stories of how we lost our Dads - the moments that changed us and ultimately brought us into the DDC. With honesty, humour, and vulnerability, we begin to unpack grief in a way that feels real and relatable. This podcast exists because we know we’re not alone, and neither are you. Dead Dad Club is about creating space for conversations people often avoid, finding light in dark moments, and building a community where loss is understood, shared, and even laughed about sometimes.Trigger warning: Conversations of grief, death, trauma & dark humour.
