Following Curiosity: How Lisa Borden Built + Continues to Build a Life and Career with Intention

“today, I’m going to answer it as…in an hour or tomorrow it could be different, I think that’s what my most of success is about - staying curious and flexible, being present and aware. Today, success is : I made the most of what is happening right now…” Meet Lisa Borden, Founder of Borden Communications and Founder of The Wellness Intelligence Community. On episode #24 of Defining Success, Lisa shares life story as a curious and eager young adult to becoming a curious and eager business owner.Listen to the episode and you will hear it was lived experiences that led Lisa towards a life of thinking outside the box and seeking alternative solutions. As a Brand Strategist and Business Mentor for three decades, Lisa does not hold back in keeping a brand’s promise to their consumers. Sounds simple but when raising funds and scalability enters the picture, this can be a slippery slope. Lisa brings her years of expertise and experience to support founders and executives in navigating healthy, honest and successful growth. Some of my favorite (favourite) moments : Lisa shares that she grew up with a family who had a medical practice (antibiotics and all!) Her Grandpa was her business mentor - and he made her work for it! Raising a family while running a business from home and the boundaries needed to successfully do both It was her daughter who inspired Lisa's life and career pivot into wellness Once Lisa put smart, well informed and health conscious driven decisions first, it cost her many clients She felt this was called to do this, so she pushed through - and has quietly built both a wildly successful business as a brand strategist as well as an interactive wellness platform - TWIC For those of you working in the wellness space, this is a must listen. Lisa does not make decisions lightly. Every step she takes is taken intentionally; aware of all outcomes, especially the commonly overlooked ones. Though for some, the goal post set by Lisa may be to high...she has set an important reference point for us to all always consider : sure, compromise for convenience but be aware of what you are compromising and be honest about it. From Pharmacist to Mother Warrior to Fierce Advocate: The Story of Betsy Rice

Betsy Rice is an incredible person and it was an honor to have her on the show. Betsy is a person who believes in the power of western medicine. She is a pharmacist. She also believes in the power of healthy eating, exercise and alternative methods to western medicine. All of this can and should be true at the same time. Unfortunately, as Betsy learned the hard way, by just asking questions like (for instance), "do you think my daughter is acting differently because of the vaccine she recently received?", one can be ostracized, ridiculed and not taken seriously. The tides are starting to turn and thanks to Betsy and others educating about informed consent, people are starting to be more open to having these conversations. No matter your position on vaccines, I hope you simply listen to this important conversation. No action needs to be taken, no comments need to be made....just listen.
