    ADCQR Annual Report Launch

    Welcome to this edition of Diabetes Dialogue where we bring healthcare professionals the latest discussions in diabetes care. Topic: ADCQR Annual Report Launch Speaker: Prof Sophia Zoungas and Dr Konrad Kangru Professor Sophia Zoungas is the Head of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, a Professor of Diabetes, Vascular Health and Ageing, and the Academic Director of the Monash University Clinical Trials Centre. She is also a consultant Endocrinologist and Physician with clinical appointments at both Monash Health, including the Victorian Heart Hospital, and Alfred Health, Melbourne. Professor Zoungas is internationally recognised for her expertise in the design and conduct of large multicentre, multinational clinical trials and cohort studies which have impacted directly on public health and clinical care. She has assembled international and national teams in diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney health, including investigator lead projects and large-scale clinical trials. Her significant contribution to the advancement of diabetes research has been recognised through the Kellion Diabetes Award and induction into the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. Professor Zoungas has over 310 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Annals of Internal Medicine, British Medical Journal, and Nature Reviews and she is recognised as one of the most cited researchers in the field of diabetes. Dr Konrad Kangru gained his MBBS from University of Queensland in 2000, has been in private Rural General Practice in the Whitsundays region of Queensland since 2005, where he has been a GP Supervisor and Medical Educator since 2009. He has remained a very active advocate for improving the support of rural doctors, currently as Co-Chair of the Statewide Rural and Remote Clinical Network, and also having served as President and prior Conference Convenor of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland. Dr Kangru has also undertaken and presented his research on the Self-Care of rural doctors, and has special interests in Medical Education and Diabetes management, particularly in up-skilling colleagues about this important condition.   Subscribe to our newsletter here Connect with us through our social media channels.
