Not long after graduation, 400 high school students move on campus for four weeks of Governor’s School. Rodney Allen, program coordinator for Governor’s School East and West takes us inside the summer program.

Greensboro College recognizes the growing importance of English language education around the world. The School of Business Greensboro College houses some of the most popular majors and some of the most popular professors including Dr. Karen Knoch. The Dean of the School of Business got her start in the furniture industry, but a ferry ride changed everything.

In the fall of 2023, the College welcomed five international students. In 2024 that number grew to 15 and this semester, Fall 2025 the College welcomed 32. Many contributed to that growth, but none more than Paula Wilder, Director of International Programs.

On February 1, 1960 four local college students took a stand for freedom by sitting down at at whites-only lunch counter in a Downtown Greensboro Woolworth's. That brave act led to many others in Greensboro and across the country, eventually integrating lunch counters nationwide. Today a museum commemorates their act and many others that advance civil and human rights. CEO of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, John Swaine joined us in the President's Corner.

We like to say that the College is 100 steps from Downtown Greensboro – 100 steps from food, music, art, theatre, shopping, sports and much more. Zack Matheny, CEO of Downtown Greensboro Inc. came to the President's Corner to to talk about Downtown's past, present and future.

The mission of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro is a big one -- to inspire giving, maximize opportunities, and strengthen communities for present and future generations. Walker Sanders is the foundation’s president – a role he’s held for more than 25 years.

13 is a pretty lucky number for Freddy Johnson. The Greensboro College alum recently won his 13th state basketball championship as head coach at Greensboro Day School. He is the winningest coach in North Carolina history, and in the top five in the country, and before any of that he was a student and player at GC.

Having a good lawyer on your team is like getting regular check-ups at the doctor. As a small college, Greensboro wants to stay healthy for our students, faculty and staff, so we have one of the best lawyers in the country consulting with us. Elizabeth Troutman is a partner with Brooks Pierce, and counsel to Greensboro College.

There is likely no one at Greensboro College who doesn’t at least recognize GC's Dean of Student Success and Engagement. Not only does he organize or attend most every event, he’s easy to spot – yes, he’s tall, but it’s his easy manner and infectious smile that make him unforgettable.

At a small college, everyone wears a lot of hats. Meet Dr. Natasha Veale -- Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Education, Professor of Special Education, Special Education Program Coordinator, and she’s also mom to a GC honors student.

Anne Hurd is literally the heart of Greensboro College. Her ties to the college span three generations and she has touched many more. As she prepares to retire in January 2025, she shares some of her memories of growing up, studying and working at GC.

Construction is underway on the final mile of the Downtown Greenway which runs along the east side of Greensboro College's campus. Project Manager Dabney Sanders talked with GC President Lawrence Czarda about the progress and projected completion.

Dr. Sharpe joined Greensboro College faculty in 2007 and quickly made a name for herself as a teacher, researcher and leader. She now serves as Dean of Faculty and joined Dr. Czarda recently in the President's Corner.

Chief Pamelia McAdoo-Rogers joined the GC community summer 2024 as Director of Campus Safety and Security. Her years of work in the police department and her passion for education make her the perfect person to protect Greensboro College. 

Western North Carolina continues to work toward recovery after Hurricane Helene. The storm devastated homes, businesses and schools. Dr. Hope Williams, President of the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities joined Greensboro College President Dr. Lawrence Czarda to talk about the state of those facilities and the work to support not only the schools, but the students, staff and faculty who call them home.
