This podcast covers a broad range of health topics from an integrative medicine perspective that combines conventional medicine and complementary therapies to promote health and wellness.  Most physicians are specialized now, so health can be approached too  narrowly, and many factors that contribute to poor health are ignored or overlooked.  Rather than chasing symptoms with drugs, Dr. Ban gets to the root of health problems and offers suggestions for achieving optimal health through the least invasive approach possible.In each episode, Dr. Ban discusses health comprehensively based on the interplay of his "5 Pillars of Health."   Pillar #1 focuses on how health is affected by Nutrition and Physical Activity.  Pillar #2 is about the connection of stress (and namely the stress hormone, cortisol) to a broad range of chronic health conditions and diseases.  Pillar #3 addresses the importance of Gut Health and reducing Inflammation.  Pillar #4 explains how you can slow aging an

    Topics:1.  62 y/o male who wants to lose weight bc he has indigestion, and not feeling well. What type of diet and exercise?2. 44 y/o female who is very active during her work but has a lot anxiety and depression, and doesn't have energy. She's regaining a lot of weight she has lost last year. Need to figure what brain areas are affecting anxiety and depression, use diet and supplements to help her before trying to deal with her weight. Then use Tirzepatide in this case to help her drop her weight while maintaining her muscle mass.  3. 72 y/o female who has severe arthritis in both hips affecting her mobility, and have sleepless nights due to pain. Her BMI is over 40, and her surgeon won't operate on her unless she drops 30 pounds to get her BMI below 40. She can't really walk, and exercising is very limited. She has a good eating habit because she grow most of her own foods. Her fasting insulin level is close to 30. In this case, Tirzepatide helped her drop her weight while maintaining her muscle mass.

Whiplash is the reigning World's Gold Medalist in Muay Thai for the United States, and a professional Mixed Martial Art (MMA) fighter. I described her workout routines daily and when she is in a fight camp. 3. How much you would have to exercise to lose 1 pound of fat as an elite athlete versus an overweight/obese aging individual? The science behind why people are not successful in losing weight when they exercise. Does the type of exercise make a difference? 4. Recommendations: 1. resistance training with lighter weights and more repetitions, 2. incorporate Essential Amino Acids with my training, 3. reduce stress. Insulin resistance is the hallmark to stress response.
