Reservoir Rangers: Responsible Access, Wildlife, and Looking After Scotland’s Water   Mariella hosts Drip Feed with reservoir rangers Josh and Helen to discuss Scottish Water’s role in caring for 300 reservoirs around Scotland. They discuss what reservoirs are and why they matter for drinking water. While also explaining what a reservoir ranger is, and their role in protecting the landscape that surrounds reservoirs. Josh and Helen explain the importance of fire safety at reservoirs, as well as the dangers of swimming in the open water. They highlight wildlife and protected species, including Swallows, House martins, nationally scarce beetles, and internationally significant Pink-Footed geese at Gladhouse. Reservoir rangers also host public and school events like seasonal walks, bird ID outings, and a moth morning.    Remember to leave no trace, and if able, leave a positive trace. Van Life: The Puddle Problem - Drip Feed

The Drip Feed Water Talk hosts catch up with Adam about where he’ll take his newly upgraded camper van, including Torridon, the Isle of Arran, Skye, and more Highlands travel, while emphasizing visiting off-season to reduce pressure on busy areas. They discuss how tourism strains local resources, noting Arran’s population can increase fivefold in peak season and that water has been tankered to Arran due to demand, alongside efforts to encourage mindful water use in places like Arran and Skye. Adam shares concerns about waste dumping and litter on routes like the NC500 and uses the principle “take only pictures, leave only footprints.” He reflects on appreciating tap water after running out during the Cuillin Traverse and drinking puddle water, and highlights Scotland’s Top Up Tap map plus tools like Park4Night and Campa for planning facilities, along with essentials such as a stove for coffee, a trowel, entertainment, and a filtered water bottle. Van Life: The Smelly Bit - Drip Feed

Van Life in Scotland: Water, Waste, and Responsible Outdoor Access Flora and Mariella, hosts of Drip Feed, speak with guest Adam Raja to discuss van life, active travel, and camping in Scotland’s wild spaces. Adam explains how discovering videos of Glencoe and the Isle of Skye on Instagram in his early twenties sparked his obsession with Scotland’s landscapes and led him to convert a camper van to spend more time outdoors and reduce repeated driving. He describes a minimalist van setup with fresh water, a sink, and a grey-water tank, and explains his emergency toilet plan using a bucket and WAG bags while relying mainly on campsite facilities. The conversation covers responsible disposal of grey and black water, and stresses the importance of planning ahead for water disposal points. They also highlight Outdoor Access Code awareness, social media impacts, environmental risks of sewage chemicals, and the “three Ps” for flushing: Pee, Poo, and Paper.   00:00 Welcome to Drip Feed 00:11 Meet Adam Raja 01:00 Discovering the Scottish Highlands 02:16 Why Build a Van? 02:42 The Realities of Van Building 03:48 Toilet Talk WAG Bags 05:34 Blackwater vs Greywater 07:17 Dumping Waste Responsibly 08:58 Social Media Outdoor Impacts 11:48 Three Ps and Flushables 14:30 Wet Wipes and Blockages 16:07 Do Better Outdoors 16:35 Thanks For Watching
