Not as good as Crowe and Gosling's hang. But still good enough. Don't get greedy.

Pitching is back on Elevator Pitch and and oh my god...it's Paul Thomas Anderson week. Then we pitch (50:52) to the master of Masters, the hitmaker of dressmakers, the Orson Wells of porn, the mayor of Magnolia Boulevard, the guy who...directed There Will Be Blood. It's one of the greats. We're nervous, but we've got some pitches for him. So tune in.

  22. 55

Weapons, Naked Gun, and other stuff we missed

It's been too long. Sorta forgot how to write these blurbs (and optimize them for seo purposes). But WE'RE BACK. Will catches us up on his month of filming another movie and Matt takes us through his world travels. Then... we don't pitch. Instead, it's a catch up of every single movie we watched and didn't get to chat about...including WEAPONS, THE NAKED GUN, and LAWRENCE LAMONTS'S ONE OF THEM DAYS. Two friends reuniting through the power of content creation. It doesn't get better than this.

  23. 54

    Travel Movies (and life updates)

Here's the deal...Elevator Pitch is gonna go on a little break. Why? Well we both just gotta buy a one way train ticket, performativity read Joan Didion, and stare out the damn window till we figure out who we really are. That's right. It's summer vacation. Time for us to TRAVEL. Will's heading off to do a movie and Matt's literally doing that first thing so we decided to chat travel movies...Well Will and Tanner chat travel movies before Matt comes off the top rope with a pitch (44:08). He can't be there live unfortunately. Treadstone is on his tails. And even worse...SCOTTY DOESN'T KNOW.

This week in the elevator, we’re getting a whole bunch of gangs back together. Long story short…Caleb Saad joins us to chat about Happy Gilmore 2 and pitch some more legacy comedy sequels that don’t exist yet…and probably never should (1:02:30). Our most negative podcast yet! Join us as we get super existential about fart jokes and killing off your wife before the title credits.

We're joined by stand up comedian and known Aster skeptic Noah Marger to chat about the auteur of the abominable and his new immunocompromised film EDDINGTON. What worked? What didn't? 28. 49

    Brad Pitt and F1

We finally saw F1 so it's time to box for a quick two hour pod and change the pitch oil. But first, shall we chat about the blockbuster hit and its star? Why not. After all it's none other than thief/hotel manager, fight club entrepreneur, old man baby, Oakland A's GM, stunt double, forgotten silent film-era star, fake Italian film star, spy gamer, and personal trainer...Brad Pitt. So up top is our F1 chat. What works and what...almost works. Then we go full Pitt. Lot's of Oceans Twelve. Some Moneyball. Maybe a little Allied if you're lucky (38:57). Then we have our first pitch conversation (1:23:27). We'll explain all that. It's different. It's fun. IT'S PITT.

  29. 48

    Alec Baldwin - 1997

It’s time again for Tanner to call the shots. He had once simple request. Pitch fake movies to the pride of Long Island, Alec Baldwin. We thought it’d be best to take this one to 1997, smack in the middle of his go at leading man status. The Hunt for Red October. The Getaway. Malice. The MF Edge. Who was this guy anyway??? (1:02:43) But first, a few pieces of movie news. We just gotta talk Denis Villenueve returning to Earth for James Bond (unless he goes Moonraker) and Sorkin’s Social Network Part II. It’s a loaded episode. Billy and Stevie Baldwin would be proud of it.

  30. 47

    Dakota Johnson and MATERIALISTS

Wow...We've been waiting for this one. It's finally time to talk Celine Song's Materialists, her matchmaking follow-up to 2023's Past Lives, starring Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, and this week's guest...Dakota Johnson. She's running fashionably late to the elevator, so we've got plenty of time up top to chat through what's surely one of the more interesting movies you'll see this year. No spoilers but let's just say Celine Song's got us in a damn TIZZY. Then we chat through some other Dakota favorites of ours and how her off-kilter performance style has evolved over the years (36:14). Then we PITCH fake movies to Dakota in whatever year we want (58:58).

We're joined by comedian Ryan Goldsher to chat Mission Impossible: The Final Dead Reckoning Part 2 and pitch movies to the only professional pilot, spy, deep sea diver, free solo climber, pool shark --- you know what? This bit doesn't work for Cruise. Simply too many hits. That's why we'd like to figure out what's next for the eternal movie star. It's a monumental day in the elevator as we're joined by one of our favorites...a treasure hunting pilot, cardio-vascular surgeon on the run, Working Guy, CIA family man who's just an analyst, Amish-curious carpenter, and Mosquito Coast inhabitant HARRISON FORD. But first, Tanner bangs out the fastest three minutes in movies, reviewing Ford's new Marvel film: Captain America: Brave New World. Then, we discuss Ford's late 80s/early 90s heater chalk full of character driven (cool guys in tweed blazers) thrillers. Finally we pitch in the year 1989 (49:40) and dream cast Ford into our own 90s masterpiece that'll surely play on TNT for years to come.

    Nora Ephron - 2000

Pack your bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils and meet us on the top of the Empire State Building because it's Nora Ephron week in the elevator. That's right. For Valentine's Day we're pitching to the great writer, director, novelist, and kitchen map enthusiast. But first, a quick chat about a new trailer that piqued our interest. Then a discussion on Ephron's legacy and background as a filmmaker. Finally, we pitch to Nora hot off You've Got Mail in the year 2000 (44:11) - just before the genre she helped pioneer takes a turn for the...worse?

    Monkey Movies (with Gerry Kenah)

It will be a podcast of the apes...cause it's finally monkey week here in the elevator. We're joined by our pal GERRY KENAH (AFTV) to discuss the music biopic BETTER MAN and debate whether the decision to make a film about British pop star Robbie Williams portrayed as a CGI monkey works. Then we try to list any time an ape, chimp, orangutan, or capuchin has graced the silver screen (30:12). Why? Because somebody's gotta do the work. Oh yeah...we also pitch our own monkey movies and it goes really really well (46:45). Maybe too well. You see, the monkeys have taken Tanner. He wants to live with them now.

    FLIGHT RISK and Plane Movies

Today we're taking this elevator 30,000 feet in the air but MARK BALDBERG IS TRYING TO TAKE US DOWN. That's right. We're talking FLIGHT RISK. We start off the jump with some puzzling movie news. Then we discuss the #1 movie at the box office (9:50). We then move right into some of our favorite plane movies and the aero dynamic sub-genres they fall into (27:38). And finally...we take to the skies and pitch plane movies in any year we'd like (51:20). This is not a podcast to miss. The next one takes off tomorrow at 6 AM and your bags are already on board.
