    Eradicating Poverty

Podcast Script: Eradicating PovertyHello everyone and welcome to my podcast. My name is Juan Felipe Cano, and today I'll be talking about eradicating poverty and the real progress the world has made.Since 1990, the world has significantly reduced extreme poverty. In 1990, around 2.3 billion people lived in extreme poverty. By 2019, that number had dropped to about 650 million. This shows that change is possible. Before many countries improved their economies, millions of families had lived in extreme poverty for many years, but economic growth helped reduce those numbers.By 2019, the world had made significant progress in reducing poverty, but with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, poverty increased again in many places. In countries like India, many people had struggled with very low incomes before social programs expanded and their living conditions subsequently improved. From a more personal perspective, I have seen how poverty affects communities. In my region, some families had faced economic hardship for years before receiving educational or government support, and once they had the opportunity to study or work, their lives began to change, including mine.Even today, around 700 million people still live on less than $2.15 a day. Eradicating poverty will require education, job opportunities, and strong government policies. The world has already shown that poverty can be reduced. Now the challenge is to continue working together to eliminate it completely.Thank you for your attention.
