Fantastic Frank is honored to have TBI Survivor Joseph Martin.  A survivor of TBI since August 22, 1988. Joseph was assaulted with a baseball bat to the back of my head and striking the sidewalk with the front of his head. He was in a coma for two weeks and was in the hospital for three months. He was living close to Yankee Stadium when it happened. He was taken across to the Bronx, NY to Jacobi Hospital. he was released from Jacobi Rehab on his birthday, Nov 1, 1988. Joseph went to Burke rehab in White Plains, NY for improvement to his right arm/hand and right leg. It was diagnosed as a stroke at Jacobi. The proper diagnosis is neurological deficits due to TBI. Joseph received the proper treatment which allowed him to go back to work full duty. Joseph  works for the New York Fire Department-Emergency Medical Service since 1977. "Being a patient and being treated by my co-workers I found out how it feels to be a patient (on the other end of the stick.)" Tonight's guest EMILY Sullivan and I will be discussing this topic in a new light!  It goes way beyond my saying that you must be able to flip the hero switch since it goes deep into the recesses of one’s mind.  The primary premise is that we, as human beings, only use 10% of our brain’s capability. So what happens when one gets a TBI and their old neural pathways are rerouted; where do they go? It's our theory that they get rerouted into the other remaining 90% of the brain that is totally unknown by anyone else! If that is true, then that explains things like behavior changes, focus problems, moments of inspiration and moments of confusion. It’s like a visit to the twilight zone.  Why do I say that you may be blessed if you have a TBI?   It’s because we have the ability as any STAR TREK person knows, "to go where no man has ever gone before!" Regrettably our friend and host Fantastic Frank was surprised by a heart attack a few days ago! His planned show and guest will have to be deferred to a future date. He's been in the hospital, just getting released today.  Tonight we'll hear the details of how Frank came to understand he was having a heart attack, how he's feeling now, and what instruction if any, has been given by his health care team for moving forward. But after Beau allegedly killed a duck that wandered on to his own property, he was seized by animal control and the city of Dyersburg, TN plans to euthanize him as a "vicious animal." Beau should not be killed for this reason and should be able to live out his life with his owner, Danny Higgins. Danny is heartbroken at the thought that the city plans to euthanize his beloved dog on November 20th. Danny now has to visit Beau in boarding where the city is forcing him to stay. And on top of this, they're charging him to keep Beau there. Beau does not deserve a death sentence - he was just being a dog.
