The body of Justin Hunter Stroupe, 28, was found floating in Greenfield Lake near the Cypress Grove Apartments on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Stroupe was reported missing April 11.

A Masonboro-area homeowner shot and killed an intruder Monday, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement was called to 225 Mohawk Trail after a 911 call reported the shooting at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 12, said Lt. Jerry Brewer. Upon arrival they found Daniel Thomas Hauser, 35, dead of a gunshot wound.
