Episode 3 – When My Daughter Got Sick
In this episode of Gao’s English Journey, I talk about something that happened this week.My daughter got sick, so I needed to take a few days off from work to take care of her. This experience made me think about the reality many working mothers face in Japan.Japan is often described as a country with a declining birth rate, and creating a society where people can raise children more easily is an important topic.I also recorded this episode very late at night, just a few hours before the release. If you are listening from another country, I would love to hear your experience. What usually happens in your country when a child gets sick?Email: [email protected]

Episode 2 – Eight Minutes That Changed My Motivation
In this episode, I share a small but meaningful experience from this week.I practiced English on Duolingo every day for one year. I was proud of my consistency, but honestly, I did not feel that my speaking ability improved very much.So I decided to try something new. I joined a language exchange group on Facebook and looked for people who want to practice English and Japanese together. Two wonderful women replied to my post, and I had a short eight-minute conversation with one of them before picking up my daughter from daycare.Even though it was a very short conversation, it changed how I feel about learning English. For the first time, I felt that I wanted to learn English not just as a skill, but as a way to connect with people. In this episode, I talk about language exchange, small pockets of time in daily life, and how even eight minutes can make a difference.New episodes are released every Friday morning. If you are also learning a language or trying something new in your life, you are welcome here. You can send your message to:[email protected]
