Preacher: The Rev’d Canon Sue Pinnington MBE, Rector, St Michael and All Angels, Houghton-le-SpringThe Rev’d Canon Sue Pinnington has been the Rector of Houghton-Le-Spring in County Durham since 2008. Sue was ordained priest in 1997, following training for ordination at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. She served her curacy in Peterborough Diocese and her first incumbency at St Michael and All Angels, Cottingley in Bradford Diocese, where she was also made an Honorary Canon of Bradford Cathedral. While in Cottingley Sue was awarded an MBE for services to the community through the Cornerstone project. She continues this work in Houghton-Le-Spring through a community project called Space 4, offering a safe space five days a week with one to one support, discrete groups, and community activities aiming to enable people to navigate life’s challenges for themselves.
