Its an end of an era, Toy's are Us have gone. I will always remember the days my parents took me there on a Saturday afternoon, it was the highlight of my week! Unfortunately Toys R Us couldn't keep up with the change within retail. E-commerce was its downfall and with major online competitors such as Amazon, Ebay and even Argos adopting and changing the market, Toys R Us just couldn't compete. Now what can we learn from the mistakes that Toys R Us made? I discuss how Toy's R Us went from one of the biggest and well known brands in the world to becoming a shell of its former self.

This is a subject very close to me as I went through the process not long ago after my RAF career came to a close. The transition from the military to civvy street is a very big and nerve racking step for any service leaver. A large percentage don't know where to start with their "2nd life" so to speak and become lost in the shuffle with no guidance or assistant. I was really excited to sit down with Peter Harrop who is the Military Lead at Yodel to have a very real and frank discussion about his experience when leaving and also to talk in depth the great steps that Yodel are doing to help service leavers not only with the transition but also going to great lengths to ensure the mental well being of the individual. New episode - How to get a job without using a recruiter! So, you may know how to nail an interview, but how do you get that interview? Who do you want to hear your message? Who do you want to be found by? This is what we are going to solve now – the problem of who to work for. How is this a problem? Well if you didn’t already know that in the ‘vacancy showroom’ you don’t get to see all the vacancies that exist when dealing with an agency. You only get to see the ones that the salesperson (recruiter) has to offer – and they are keen on selling you one of theirs, rather than let you look at the whole market. Who knows whether they represent a company you really want to work for or not? I suggest this – dump that process, the one that gets you a limited selection and do this one instead
