Care and Feeding and the Search for God
In this episode, Brit interviews her long-time friend and self-care collegue, licensed therapist, Erin Wurtemberg. We discuss finding God in the most humbling places, how to care for the self, and the importance of knowing one's self in order to take care of it. We also discuss tacos...but that's at the end.Erin Wurtemberg is a taco-lover, songwriter, jokester, mom of 3, and licensed therapist who works with children, teens, and adults. Outside of her private practice, Erin’s work has taken her into schools, jails, and addiction treatment centers. Erin has been a songwriter for over over 30 years and began making music with and for kids in 2007. Prior to obtaining her Masters in Social Work in 2014, Erin worked as a massage therapist for over 12 years, teaching her clients about their bodies’ stress response and the importance of self-care. In 2009, as she entered the field of mental health, Erin became intrigued by the burnout and compassion fatigue she was observing among the counselors at the facility where she was interning. She began asking the question: can healthy compassion for others and self exist at the same time? (Spoiler alert: YES). For her own self care, Erin enjoys being in the garden or on a trail, creating music, cuddling with her 3 kids on the couch, using breathwork, making soup, reading, seeing concerts, and tending to her 4 chickens. She would like it to be known that she literally is a chicken tender.IG: @herbravebonesSpotify: Erin WurtembergPodcast: The Holding Table
