Grounded: Stories of Refugee Resettlement in Vermont

This is the final episode of the series where we hear UVM students experiences volunteering in the community, and discuss ways to improve the refugee resettlement system in Vermont.

In this episode we discuss refugees experiences of acculturation, what it means to be a Vermonter and community views on the increasing resettlement of refugees in Vermont.

In this episode we will be looking at refugees experiences of initial resettlement and compare their expectations v.s realities and feelings of dependence and independence when first settling in Vermont.

On this episode we will hear the story of a woman who rescued people stranded in the ocean after fleeing war and violence. Then we will hear from a volunteer at a refugee day station in Serbia.

In this episode we will hear from agency workers and key informants who have witnessed changing trends in refugee resettlement over the years.
