This episode is about HCC's Adult Basic Education Program. We were able to sit down with Mrs. Debra Taylor to talk about HCC's Adult Basic Education Program Serving the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Population. Mrs. Taylor made us aware of the ins and outs of the program and day to day activities with the students. Also she expressed how her life experiences help with being able to work with this every special group of students and her passion for seeing them grow to their best potential.

Halifax Community College is proud to announce its upcoming Progressive Community Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 6:00 PM, in Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. Centre, located on HCC’s campus. The Progressive Community Awards recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses in the Roanoke Valley that have made significant contributions to the betterment of the community. Awards will be presented in three categories: Community Bridge Builder, Faith in Action, and Youth Impact. Join HCC in celebrating the people who make the Roanoke Valley a great place to live and work. Mark your calendar and join us on April 6 at 6 pm in the Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr. Centre.

Happy New Year Patriots! To kick off the new year we were fortunate to meet with our new president Dr. Patrena Benton Elliot. Dr. Elliot serves as the first female president of Halifax Community College. She shared a wonderful message during our Spring 2023 Convocation and we wanted to make sure that this message was extended to you too.  We hope that this message will encourage you to come see what HCC can do for you and your families and we believe she is the right person at the right time to take us in the right direction for those we serve in the Roanoke Valley and beyond.

Please take the career assessment at: www.bit.ly/hcc_careercoach (Click "Sign Up" in the upper right hand corner before completing the assesment to save your results) 2. Apply for RDS at www.ncresidency.org ( This will dem you IN-State or OUT of State for tuition purposes, please make sure you write down your 10 digit RCN (Residency Certification Number) and the expiration date. Your RCN is needed to complete the CFNC application. 3. Apply for admissions at www.cfnc.org or select the (www.halifaxcc.edu) link on the checklist card. It will take you to the cfnc website to fill out the online application. 4. Apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.edu.gov ( If you are planning on receiving assistance with paying for your class, it should take 3-5 days for it to be received on our campus) If you decide that you will be paying out of pocket you do not have to go through this process. 5. Submit a copy of your signed social security card 6. Submit an official high school transcript or GED/HiSett diploma with scores and, if applicable, official college transcript(s) 7.
