Hear Her Story

For this podcast series, we aim to spotlight local female leaders of sport and athletics that have helped shape the future of sport and have created new opportunities for the youth of our community. They come from all different backgrounds and they all work in various areas of sport today. After hearing their stories and what they do for our youth, raising awareness about these awesome women, the work they do, and the dedication they have poured out, it is evident that they deserve to be celebrated. Sharing their story is not only a way for them to be appreciated for their dedication but also a way to inspire other girls and women to pursue their dreams in sport or athletics!

Hear Her Story: Anne Butler
Anne Butler is Pocatello's Director of Parks and Recreation. She too a native of Pocatello and ISU alumni work everyday to create more opportunity for those who do not have a voice. She advocates for changes that need to be made so everyone is given the chance to play. Her close relations with the Pocatello school district and many other organizations within the community have created new opportunities like soccer fields, track courses, tennis courts and pickleball courts! Throughout this episode you can hear how much Anne cares about this community and how she wants to continue to bring in new opportunities. So listen in to hear what she has to say!

Hear Her Story: Camille Long
Camille Long is one of the energetic and encouraging women that you will meet. Her constant desire to help others strive for their goals or personal best is something that is often looked past in our busy world today. Camille is a professor within the Human Performance and Sports Studies Program here at ISU as well as the head track and field coach at Highland High School. During this episode you can hear from her how important relationships have been to her and how much one friend or colleague can change the trajectory of your future life or career. As part of her mantra she encourages student-athletes to ask for help and desires success for all of those that she works with.

Hear Her Story: Chelsey Stucki
Our 2026 Sandra Dee Noakes Trailblazer Recipient, Chelsey Stucki, shares her story about how she grew as an athlete and leader through her love of sport that took her all over the world! Once a basketball player for the Idaho State Women's basketball team, she discusses how much sport has changed over the years and what modern sport looks like today for our youth. As a coach of multiple different sports, business manager of Hoops Academy, college advisor, wife and mother, she shares how she balances it all while encouraging girls and women to continue to play sport even when you are scared to try.

Hear Her Story: Tonya Wilkes
Tonya Wilkes is the current Director of Student Support and Athletics for the Pocatello School District #25. She began her journey in leadership as the principal and athletic director at Irving Middle School here in Pocatello. Though, she wanted to do more. She wanted to create more opportunities for youth in athletics and so she climbed the ladder to where she is now and would not change a thing about it. She truly loves what she does and continues to persevere through tough times like the 2020 pandemic as well as the struggles of being a woman in leadership. None of that stopped her though and as you listen to her story, you can discover more about how she continues to advocate for student-athletes and changes that need to be made to make sport even greater!
