Literally and metaphorically. In grief, the burning flame symbolizes: Memory: keeping alive the thoughts of someone who has died; Connection: feeling as though the departed person still lingers near; Comfort: easing sorrow and breaking through silence; Hope: even in the darkest times, a small light remains.
