What do you think Brian would say if he saw his guitar go for that much money?! I met him once, in 2007. It was an honor. He was really cool. I never thought I would see any evidence of the cover artwork for Diminished Responsibility. I was texting back-and-forth with Miriam Linna a few days ago. She was on the hunt for some information. We both hit on the fact that when it comes to music, there’s always more to know. It’s been my experience that when it comes to music research, it’s only getting more and more interesting. The new Les Rallizes Dénudés release came out digitally today.https://lesrallizesdenudes. bandcamp.com/album/disque-4- 76-studio-et-liveCan’t wait to hear this one on vinyl.Tonight, we have what you will hopefully find to be a great mix of tunes. RADIO BROADCAST #89105-01–26Fanatic! I hope you had a tremendous week. Last night, I listened to the new SUNN 0))) album that just came out on Sub Pop. It sounds incredible. If you like the band, I suggest you run and do not walk to this one. https://sunn.bandcamp.com/ album/sunn-o-2 New noise from John Dwyer. A snapshot of music he’s calling Heathen Axe. Looks like the vinyl sold out, but you can still get the download. I hope he presses more. https://johndwyer.bandcamp. com/album/heathen-axe A new download from Boris is available. https://boris.bandcamp.com/ album/fangsanalsatan-vol-25- in-gifu It’s not for me to get ahead of a band, but I just got a download of a record by one of our good pals and sonic allies that I can’t wait to get onto the show. I don’t see a release date for it anywhere yet, but when I do, I will let you know. Another thing to look forward to. Fanatic, I’m not sure what the calendar says, but as far as I’m concerned, Fanatic Summer starts on the first of May and this is our first summer show. We hope you enjoy our gathering of tunes tonight. Until next week, keep the music going and STAY FANATIC!!! –– Henry

RADIO BROADCAST #89004-24–26Fanatic! What a week. Early Sunday morning, I drove down to Miami to work with my old pal, Susie J. If that name is at all familiar, it’s because her photographs grace the covers of early Dischord releases. We spent three days at a great dark room facility, printing images from my negative and transparency collection. On Wednesday evening, we wrapped. Early Thursday morning after a power nap, I drove north out of Florida. The state of Georgia, at least when I was driving through it, seemed to be one long traffic jam, with two traffic accidents to make things even slower. I don’t know why, but I truly don’t mind driving long distances. I got back, unloaded the car, ate a small meal and fell asleep, fully clothed, with the lights on. I was only planning on taking a brief nap so I could watch some news, but I ended up coma-sleeping for about eight hours. I snapped awake at 0320 hrs. and have been going ever since.I just ordered a copy of this.OOIOO / Lightning Bolt - The Horizon Spirals / The Horizon Viralhttps://lightningbolt. bandcamp.com/album/the- horizon-spirals-the-horizon- viralI managed to get a copy of the Coltrane live in Paris 1965 RSD 4LP set. Looking forward to hearing it. Looks like there are some on Discogs if you’re interested.Fanatic, tonight we have a tremendous selection of textures, tones and tunes, thoughtfully sequenced with your maximum enjoyment in mind. Have a great night of listening, a tremendous weekend and STAY FANATIC!!! –– Henry

RADIO BROADCAST #88904-17–260947 hrs. Fanatic! The power has been out in my neighborhood for about 14 hours. One day, probably not soon enough for my liking, my town will master this whole electricity in a storm thing. As it is now, I’m communicating unplugged, as it were, and will have to find some way to send this out to you. In less than 90 minutes, I will be in the studio for a mastering session. Hopefully, I can utilize their Internet connection. My strategy will be to get to the studio early, hopefully get online and complete these notes with Internet access. More soon.1030 hrs. At the studio. My neighbor texted me and said a powerline had come down at the bottom of the street. As I drove by, I saw multiple trucks and men working away. Hopefully, the power will be back on soon.I hope you have a long list of vinyl interests for tomorrow’s RSD. I’ve only been through the list once but will check it again if I can get online. There’s a multi LP Coltrane set from 1965 being offered. Just my opinion—not a second of any live Coltrane performance should be missed, but 1965 was an incredible year for Coltrane. I believe I picked up bootleg CDs of the 1965 Paris radio broadcasts in France at the beginning of 1992. I think that was the tour where Elvin Jones did his last shows with the Quartet. Live versions of A Love Supreme tracks! I hope I find a copy of this one.https://recordstoreday.com/ SpecialRelease/20156This 1974 live King Crimson album seems like it would be worth checking out.https://recordstoreday.com/ SpecialRelease/20213I have a lot of bootlegs from that tour. This show can also be found on the exhaustive Road To Red box set. https://www.discogs.com/ master/628354-King-Crimson- The-Road-To-Red21 CDs! I did it, one CD a day, in 2023. Totally worth it.1749 hrs. Back from the studio. An amazing day of work. I can’t wait for you to hear this one. The men in the trucks working on the powerlines have been replaced by other men and other trucks, removing the tree that fell on the powerlines. Electricity is back.We have a tremendous gathering of tunes for you, which we hope you will enjoy. RADIO BROADCAST #88804-10–26Fanatic! I hope you had a great week and got some records listened to. I very much enjoyed hearing the new Continuals album on vinyl and have the new album by Sunn 0))) lined up for the weekend.Over the last few weeks, I’ve been recommending a lot of new records to you. I hope you don’t mind. There’s a band called Season 2 that is definitely worth checking out. Australian Fanatics can find the record on the Spoilsport label and those in the UK can find it on Upset! The Rhythm. That might be a little closer to your locale. Here is the Australian address.https://season-2.bandcamp.com/ album/power-of-now-ausAnd here is the UK address.upsettherhythm.bandcamp.com/ album/power-of-nowFirst time on our show tonight is a band called Knights of Molino. This is their Bandcamp address.https://knightsofmolino. bandcamp.com/track/take-back- controlFanatic, I must say, I am grateful to be able to work with Engineer X and Engineer Am-Rock every week. I am grateful that there is still work to be done and that every day I wake up a bit behind schedule. It keeps the blood thin and adds urgency to my existence. Larry and I are working on yet another project and we are set to master in a few days. I’m really looking forward to this session. I think this one is going to bring out the best of myself and the excellent engineer Pete Lyman. I’ve come to really enjoy the challenge of mastering. I think we’re going to be able to get great results. After that’s over, I have yet another high caloric expenditure project that I’m looking forward to starting. The rest of this year will be extremely busy. All of these efforts will be object-oriented, and I’llbe able to report to you on release dates for all of them. There are now projects going into next year that will require quite a bit of application. I am grateful and excited for all of it.I’m sure you’re well aware of what’s happening in the world currently. Humans can really let you down, but music rarely does. We’re very lucky to have access to it. Tonight’s show is a testament to that. Thank you so much for tuning in. Have a great night of listening, an excellent weekend, and STAY FANATIC!!! –– Henry

RADIO BROADCAST #88704-03–26Fanatic. I hope you had a tremendous week and are gearing up for an even better weekend. I’ve been slightly off my game over the last few days as far as getting time in front of the speakers. That’s not to say I haven’t been doing music-oriented work. We just cut the lacquers on a project Larry Hardy and I have been working on for the last several weeks. The parts are all at the pressing plant and we are eagerly awaiting test pressings. Of course, I will keep you in the loop on the progress of this project. I can say that I think you’re going to really dig it. So, that’s some good news and there’s even more good news. We just started preliminary work on yet another incredibly cool project. We are set to master in a couple of weeks. No idea when this one’s coming out, but it will, and I think you’re going to find it very much to your liking. If you are a fan of SUNN 0))), their new album came out today. Can’t wait to hear this one.https://sunn.bandcamp.com/ album/sunn-o-2Here’s information on the very cool Dion Lunadon album that’s coming out soon. Not soon enough for my liking! https://dionlunadon.bandcamp. com/album/rare-gems-volume-oneI just got word that Bettina Köste of the great German band Malaria passed away last month. The first time I went to Berlin, when it was still called West Berlin, at the beginning of 1983, I was immediately fascinated by the city and what I understood the music scene. Several records and many hours of listening later, I became a huge fan. Malaria was one of the first bands, I heard. I Bettina in Berlin on a later tour. We’ve listened to Malaria a few times on the show. Really great music and part of an amazing music scene.Stephanie Chernikowski, the excellent photographer, who documented the music scene in NYC for decades, passed away two days ago. She was an amazing artist and a truly good person. There’s a very good chance you’ve seen her photos. You need look no further than the cover of the Cramps’ Gravest Hits 12”. Years ago, I was working on a record for Alan Vega. We needed press photos. I knew that Alan, while extraordinarily photogenic, was not exactly a fan of sitting still for a photo session. That’s why I asked Stephanie if she would do it. She photographed Suicide many times and I knew that Alan liked her and that we would get great shots between her talent, and Alan being relaxed around her. She asked me if I had any requests. I said beyond her doing her thing, I would like to get some shots with the lighting was such that she made Alan look like a silent film star. The portrait is my absolute favorite of Alan. Her photos of Roky Erickson are amazing. She made a book of her photographs called Dream Baby Dream Images From The Blank Generation that’s worth finding.Several days ago, music producer extraordinaire Nick Launay contacted me and said he’d just finished a record with the Gang Of Four. No way! He sent me some tracks. They’re really good. There’s no set date for release yet. He asked if I wanted to play the track No Kings Here on the show. You will find it in our second hour. Big thanks to Nick and the band for letting us play the song for you.I just got sent in advance of an album that’s coming out in June. It’s a collaboration with Lee Perry and Mouse On Mars, called Spatial, No Problem. You can hear a track now. We’ll start it in May.https://mouseonmars.bandcamp. com/album/spatial-no-problemA reissue of the Sheriff Lindo album Aftershock Dubs comes out in May. Very cool record.https://emrecords.bandcamp. com/album/aftershock-dubs- 2026-repressWe hope you enjoy tonight’s gathering of tunes and that you have a splendid and safe weekend. Henry Rollins: KCRW Broadcast #885

RADIO BROADCAST #88503-20–26Fanatic. I would like to note the passing of Tim Harrison, a man I knew for decades. He drove the bus on many tours I did all over North America. I got the word he was in hospice several hours down the road from me. As I was heading to him, he slipped away. We had a lot of laughs and some great times out there.I’m doing my best to catch up on listening. Quite often I’ll get a record as soon as it comes out, but it will take me a while to actually listen to it. There are a lot of records here, waiting to hit the turntable. There is an amazing musician, a multi instrumentalist, whose records I get just because his name is on them. He never lets me down. His name is Oren Ambarchi. Late last year, I got a record of his that at the time, had just come out called Dragon’s Return. I finally got it listened to a couple of nights ago. It’s really good. Mr. Ambarchi is quite prolific and seems to always be onto the next thing. He can be hard to keep up with sometimes. You can go to Bandcamp and check out what he’s been getting up to. https://orenambarchi.bandcamp. com/album/dragons-returnThe new Continuals album Never Sleep comes out today. This is a great record and I’m so glad the band was able to turn it around for release so quickly. You might remember we listened to their previous self-titled album quite a bit. We have a track from that record early in tonight’s show. Continuals features, Ryan Nelson, who you might remember from the cool band Soccer Team. Fellow soccer teammate, Melissa Quinley, features prominently on Never Sleep. They work so well together. It’s great to hear them again. In my opinion, Fanatic, this is excellent warm-to-hot weather listening. We will start in on it next week. https://continualsdc.bandcamp. com/album/never-sleepYou might remember last week, I told you about a test pressing that Larry and Ian had listened to, that I had not yet heard. A few days ago, I listened to it, and as Ian and Larry testified, it sounds great. We put the order in and as soon as we have records back, we will let you know. On even more cool things that we can’t tell you much about yet, a few days ago, I mastered a record with Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound. The results were incredible. He is a truly amazing engineer. We just finished the liner notes and the sticker for the cover. All that wrapped earlier today. I’m waiting for Larry to give me the command and Pete will get the lacquers cut. I will, of course, be in attendance to do real time Fanatic documentation. In my decades as an amateur music hyper-fan, this particular project eclipses anything I’ve ever been involved with. We can’t wait for you to hear this one. There’s a new release by that cool band Optic Sink. The Bandcamp page says there were only 80 pressed. I haven’t heard anything but the one track you get on the pre-order. You can check it out here. https://opticsink.bandcamp. com/album/relentless- metamorphosisThe new Damaged Bug album, Zuzax, is out today. We have a track from it on the show tonight. https://damagedbug.bandcamp. com/album/zuzaxWe have, for you tonight, Fanatic, a “veritable cornucopia” of tunes that will hopefully gratify your Epicurean palette of music appreciation. We aim to please. Have a great night of listening, and a tremendous, music-filled weekend. Henry Rollins: KCRW Broadcast #884

RADIO BROADCAST #88403-13–26Fanatic! I hope you had a great week. I just finished driving a van full of things for 30 hours and 44 minutes, with a break of 10 minutes of sleep at a truckstop in Oklahoma. Upon arrival, unfolding my body from the shape of the seat and getting out of the van was a small victory, but having to unload the van and then return it to the airport, all in one go, bordered on the miraculous. On the way, I listened to the tracks for tonight’s show twice. I do believe we have a great gathering of tunes. Standouts that occurred to me as I was driving, include the great phrasing of Scott Walker, the sheer awesomeness of the Beastie Boys track, how I’ve got to listen to all the Soccer Team records yet again, and how perfectly Paul Weller of the Jam snapshots the frustrations of a young person in the track we’re playing tonight, The Modern World. Also, perhaps selfishly, I want to include that while the miles went by, I came up with what I think is a great idea for a bit of music writing to do. I’m going to have to find some time to get into it in the next few months. Writing about music, on the glaringly sub-amateur level I do it on, is at best, hyperbolic and likely almost completely enthusiasm-based. I know this. I wish I had the cool sophistication of the music writers I admire, but I simply don’t. At some point over the summer, I’ll put in a mercifully abbreviated version of this idea, complete with a reference discography into our weekly show notes and write a far more painfully expanded version to go elsewhere at some point. You might remember several weeks ago, I told you I was mixing some tracks with our good pal and sonic ally, Ian MacKaye at Inner Ear Studios. It took some time to make people understand that neither Ian or I were on any of the tracks, that we were merely mixing old tracks from a multitrack tape that I’d retrieved weeks before. So far, I haven’t told you who the band is. I didn’t want to do that until we knew we were going to be able to release it. Here’s an update: the test pressings are back from the plant. Larry Hardy at In The Red Records says it sounds great, as does Ian. I have a copy that I’ll listen to over the weekend. If those two say it’s good to go, then I’m 100% sure it is. That means, we’ll get the record pressed up and to you as soon as possible. We can’t wait for you to hear it.Century, after century, humans, despite so much available history to learn from, keep perpetrating catastrophic and horrible campaigns that create unimaginable misery and generational trauma. The contorted logic they use to justify such madness is as transparent as it is obscene. I know you don’t need me to tell you any of this. Music is one thing humans created, in its best examples, that’s absolutely perfect. No matter how heartbreaking and disappointing the actions of people in power can be, we still have music. Engineer X, Engineer Am-Rock and myself are so glad to be able to provide you with some every week. To say we’re into it is an understatement. Thank you so much for tuning in.Have a great weekend and STAY FANATIC!!! –– HenryWe’re on Blueskyhenryrollins21361.bsky.social

The record came out today. https://staticshockrecords. bandcamp.com/album/station- model-violenceOur good pal and sonic ally, Michael Mulholland, who resides and broadcasts out of beautiful Melbourne, Australia gave me the heads up that there is a new album by the great band EXEK called Prove The Mountains Move. Michael is a great source for excellent music. I do my best to always give him credit, but I must say, a lot of music that we listen to on our show is from his recommendations. Thanks, Michael! https://exek.bandcamp.com/ album/prove-the-mountains-moveDamn, albums are so expensive now. It’s an incredible buzz kill but that’s how it is.Fanatic, as we edge ever closer to Fanatic spring 2026, I can say, with the access to upcoming records that I have access to, some of which I’m intricately involved with, that we have some incredible music to look forward to this year. I think you’re going to be beyond stoked, you find yourself in a state of temporary disbelief.I just got an email from someone named Ian MacKaye. Decade after decade, he keeps writing me. One of these days, I’m going to figure out who this person is. Apparently he has a record label called Dischord. He said that he went and saw Kid Congo play last night and that El Kid, one of my favorite people in the history of humankind, was coming by to visit today. I am beside myself with jealousy and will have to find some way to cope. Reportedly, Kid and his incredible band are going to be doing dates in Europe with Liz Lamere opening. WOW! That’s a double bill I would like to see.Engineer X, Engineer Am-Rock and I will be putting the finishing touches on next week’s show over the weekend. I’m listening to the tracks as I’m writing this. Really cool show we’ve got lined up.If you take a look below, you will hopefully find tonight’s gathering of great jams to be to your liking. The Ryan Reidy tracks we’ve been playing from his album Fringe Body Parts are really rocking our second hour. https://ryanreidy.bandcamp. com/album/fringe-body-parts.As far as I’m concerned, winter is on its last legs and spring will soon be upon us. Henry Rollins: KCRW Broadcast #881

RADIO BROADCAST #88102-20–26Fanatic! Happy Friday. I hope you’ve been able to listen to great music since last week. I’ve been doing marathon proofreading and editing sessions that go from when I wake up until well into the night. This has kept me from the turntable, but this is work that must be done. This regimen will be in place for the next several days. You might remember, months ago, when I told you that I had mixed some songs with Ian MacKaye at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia. Probably, due to my mediocre writing skills, I wasn’t clear enough in my reportage and some folks were left under the impression that Ian and I were creating new music. We were actually mixing tracks from an old demo tape from 1979 that I located months before. The reason I’m bringing this up is the tracks came out sounding really good and two days ago, our good pal, the very talented engineer Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound, cut the lacquer for the record these tracks will be released on. He even cut an acetate for me so I could listen to the tracks at home. I sat in front of the speakers in his editing room, listening back to the tracks, while sending Ian and Larry Hardy at In The Red Records short videos so they could listen. It was very exciting to hear these tracks sound so good. The cover art, liner, notes, and labels are all done. The lacquer has been cut. It’s going to be the four tracks pressed on both sides of a 12”. That was Larry’s idea, very cool. The parts went off to the pressing plant and hopefully, we will have test pressing and vinyl to follow. So, what band is this? I’ll let you know when we get the records back. I will say this: it’s really good and we can’t wait for you to hear it. Stay tuned. Our good pal and sonic ally, Hannah Lew of the band Cold Beat, has a solo record coming out on April 10. Looking forward to this one. We are playing a track from it tonight. https://hannahlew.bandcamp. com/album/hannah-lew-2I’m really liking the Fringe Body Parts album by Ryan Reidy. You will find one of his tracks in the second hour. https://ryanreidy.bandcamp. com/album/fringe-body-partsAlso, I was able to secure the Misfits tracks from the Manny Martinez Tapes and a really cool version of their excellent song Hybrid Moments will start hour two. Glenn Danzig was an amazing singer right out of the box. I encourage you to find these tracks. We will be playing them in the weeks going forward. The new Takaat 10” Is Noise, Vol. 3 is really good. We will listen to a track from it tonight. https://takaat.bandcamp.com/ album/takaat-is-noise-vol-3Tonight’s offering by The Fall is from the band’s album The Unutterable, released in 2000. I wanted to remind you that this record just got the cool Cherry Red Records reissue treatment. Really worth checking out. https://thefallmusic.bandcamp. com/album/the-unutterable Fanatic, we really hope you enjoy tonight’s gathering of tracks and that you have a tremendous weekend. Thank you for listening and STAY FANATIC!!! –– Henry
